Lara misses Sharjah series against Pakistan

(Reuters) - Former West Indies captain Brian Lara, who fractured his elbow last month, will not play in a two-test series against Pakistan in Sharjah.

The West Indies Cricket Board announced on Tuesday a 15-strong squad for the series between January 27 and February 18, led by Carl Hooper.

Lara suffered a hairline fracture of his left elbow in a one-day tournament in Sri Lanka in mid-December and was expected to be out for six weeks.

Squad: Carl Hooper (captain), Ridley Jacobs (vice-captain), Darrell Brown, Sherwin Campbell, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Pedro Collins, Corey Collymore, Cameron Cuffy, Mervyn Dillon, Daren Ganga, Chris Gayle, Ryan Hinds, Wavell Hinds, Dinanath Ramnarine, Marlon Samuels.
