Bollywood actress Lara Dutta and tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi had a registered marriage on Wednesday. Lara wore a beige Ritu Kumar sari from Ritu Kumar’s Falaknuma collection, and Mahesh a khaki suit.
Announcing their wedding on microblogging site Twitter, Mahesh posted his picture with Lara, saying: “Mr. and Mrs Bhupathi folks…”
On Feb 19, the couple will reportedly have a Church wedding in Goa and their sangeet ceremony is Feb 18.
For long both Lara, 33 and Mahesh, 36 denied they were in a relationship and would state they are “just friends”.
Their affair made news when newspapers reported Lara was supervising the renovation at Mahesh’s newly-rented apartment at Nibbana, the apartment complex in Pali Hill, Mumbai.
The tennis star proposed to Lara when they were both in New York. Mahesh popped the question over a candle lit dinner and he then slipped a ring that that he designed himself. They then formally announced their engagement on September 19th via twitter.
It’s the first wedding for Lara and a second wedding for Mahesh. Lara was living in with Bhutanese model Kalden (Kelly) Dorji for many years and Mahesh was earlier married to well-known model Shvetha Jaishankar who now lives with her parents in Chennai.

A Church wedding (both Lara and Mahesh are Christians)
Pre and post wedding celebrations at a beach-side luxury resort in Goa.
The functions have been put together by wedding planners, Dreamz Kraft, run by Priti Sidhwani (sister-in-law of Ritesh Sidhwani, who is also producer of Don 2 featuring Lara).
Priti has also handled other celebrity weddings like Neelam Kothari's simple wedding at Taj Land’s End and the grand set-ups for Neha Oberoi’s (daughter of Dharam Oberoi) wedding at the same venue.
The decor at Lara-Mahesh’s wedding will be very Victorian, in keeping with Lara’s tastes. The invitation cards have a very English design too, with rose patterns and are designed by Delhi-based Entertainment Design Company (EDC) whose most famous wedding clients are Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan.
Nice pics.. Have to admit I expected her to look more high maintenance being an ex-Miss Universe..
More elaborate high maintenance clothes are planned for the other wedding festivities that will be happening in Goa, this weekend. She'll wear a Manav Gangwani sunflower orange lehnga studded with Swarovski crystals at the Sangeet, while Mahesh will wear an ivory coloured kurta pajama with a sunflower orange stole. She will also wear a traditional polki jewelry set in gold and uncut diamonds.
Lara will wear a white Ellie Saab gown with jewellery in white gold and diamonds at their Christian-style wedding, while the Tennis star will be seen in a black and white tuxedo designed by an international designer.
Splash and Iconic CEO Raza Beig hosted a very special hen party for the actress, who’s a good friend of his, at his Palm Jumeirah villa and the city’s glitterati turned out in full force for it, all dressed in white following the theme! The actress and 13 friends including one-time Bollywood designer Xerxes Bhatena, ex-model Marianne De Souza and nutrition and fitness expert Dianne Pandey were flown down and put up at the Madinat Jumeirah resort.
Lara herself had posted on her Twitter page before the party, “15 women…4 days…1 mission…PAAARRRTTY!!! Here’s hoping I survive my bachelorette!! ;-)”
While everyone wore white, the star certainly made an impression at the party, looking stunning and showing off that million-dollar figure in a chic salmon-pink Herve Leger bandage dress. She got mingling with Dubai’s A-listers, and looked every inch a lovely bride-tobe.
The theme was white and red, right down to the red velvet cushions with ‘Lara’ written on them.
Raza met Lara through their mutual friend, Clara Belle, after she won the Miss Universe title, and the two have since been very close. So when Lara revealed that she was getting married, Raza and Clara decided to have a fab celebration for her in one of her fave places – Dubai!
“We were partying until 7 in the morning,” Raza told!
