Awesome. Most talented batsman since Viv Richards even though he hasn't done justice to his talent. Based on pure talent, ability to snatch matches away from oppostion single handedly, and for the entertainment value, I rank him way above everyone else. I was watching the match when he scored 200, and he punched the air. That was quite unusual for him. I wonder what he did when he reached 300? I hope he takes back the record from hayden. I really do. he deserves it more than anyone else.

- i was following today’s play and lara was punishing the english bowlers especially simon jones with ease, hopefully he’ll carry his bat to another world record tomorrow and jabos better stick around and support him cos’ only the tail remains after these 2 recognised batsmen.
On his day there isn’t a player like brian lara, he is a class act, bechara has rescued windies single handedly over the years, and now is in a situation where windies r playing for pride, having already lost the wisden trophy + the series to england for the 1st time since 1968, if only lara was playing 4 a team which didn’t just rely on him, lara rulz, even @ his age he is still going strong this show’s the talent that is brian lara, bring on the same onslaught tomorrow my man and make hayden’s chaddiezzzz gheeli

Lara is a class act indeed, no doubt there..but have never really enjoyed his game ever.
If there is a batsman who deserves to hold this record, it is Lara. Hope he takes over Hayden and gets back to his rightful place. :)
The way he's been under the microscope of late, he'd do well to not go for glory and declare (sacrifice for the team) if he's not able to score at a quick rate early in the day. A rare position of strength for the WI to be in and they could capitalise it and go for a possible win.

and i wonder and i fail to understand how in the presence of lara someone else can be titled as the best batsman…

to be honest - i knew Lara would play the game at his highest level - but i never expected like that - second triple ton after Sir Don Bradman - kuddos to him!!!!!!!!!
at the moment - i do see him surpassing Hayden's record - and even 400 runs barrier - he is on 339 - England hasn't been bad with bowl but Lara is too good.
