Re: Laptops
have been using Dell/Sony for long, recently bought HP too, never ever had any major problem.
Re: Laptops
I've had great experiences with Toshiba. A little more expensive than the others, but well worth it.
Re: Laptops
Toshiba
Re: Laptops
Dell all the way, in everything except battery life.
Finding the right laptop is entirely dependant on your use. There is a wide variety, and different brands have different specialities, so you have to be more specific. Do you intend to carry it around a lot, or pretty much place in the computer room with limited movement? Do you want to do just basic surfing, or plan to watch movies or use it for complex CAD designing or pretty much just about everything.
Re: Laptops
Whatever you do make sure you get a Centrino platform or (Centrino Duo) for a better "Mobile" experience, including battery life.
Re: Laptops
I have a Dell D400 with Centrino. Everything is great, except battery life (barely 100 mins with WiFi on)
Re: Laptops
Wow, that is pretty weak battery life. Mine lasts about 4 hours max, on an average, it lasts about 3 hours. A friend of mine has a Dell, and his lasts about the same as mine.

Dell HP Toshiba

I would recommend:
a) Toshiba
b) HP/Compaq
you have not mentioned your budget at all so no idea, but category: Satellite will do good for you according to your requirement(s)
you will get average battery life with the regular battery that comes with the laptop (6 cell) 2.25 - 3 hours). and it will vary with the size of the screen you choose...etc and if you are looking for a bundle then go to HP website you might catch a good deal Laptop + printer.
both have good support but Toshiba is way better.
I purchased Presario V2410 few months back, its 14.1 I get decent battery 3 hours approx and I am no gamer, it runs smoothly only drawback it has is the 4200 rpm HD anyways I am switching to Acer travelmate 4402, thats a good option if you are not too frenzy of customer support as acer is not known for 24 hours customer support.
Re: Laptops
Dell Dell Dell Dell Dell Dell Dell Dell
I've got 3 Dells and they are all awesome
Faisal have you tried Power Management options and setting battery life to Max Batter for longer life?
I can watch 2 movies on a single battery by changing my power options.
If i leave it to the normal option then cant even watch a single movie.
Most ppl dont do that and then complain bout battery life.
Re: Laptops
Toshiba all the way! :k:
Re: Laptops
wooooww… a lot of diff opinions…
with Toshiba or HP…u dont get the office software… that’s a bad thing…but this IT guy at my work said he can hook me up with the cd if i need it…or i can get it from Pak…
hmm…still undecided…![]()
Re: Laptops
With Dell you need to pay to get the office software, the chingar software that comes free is something u should be staying away from anyways.
Re: Laptops
with HP you get the basic Microsoft works 8 and some other good software initially, but you can easily get the software from the comfort of your chair or sofa;)
Re: Laptops
I dont think there is any brand name computer that you can buy which comes with Office Suite.
You have to pay for it and buy it as an addition to your computer.
acrobi You are naughty!!
Re: Laptops
Personally, I don't like Dells. Way too Fragile. I have used IBM (Now Lavino) ThinkPads and found them to be fanastic. Toshiba OK as well.
Re: Laptops
Whichi is precisely why Dells are cheaper than the other brands. I agree with you though. Thinkpads are probably the best machines out there, however so expensive.
Re: Laptops
hum can't say anything
Re: Laptops
IBM ThinkPad T series is the best at all
