Laptop with India’s battle plans for Pakistan clicks up a row

NEW DELHI: The Indian army was punishing officers who offered a military laptop to a civilian for repairs, which leaked the military’s top-secret strategy for a major strike in Pakistan, sources said Wednesday.

Army spokesman Brigadier Sruti Kant said the incident occurred during the height of a standoff between India and Pakistan who had deployed a million troops along their volatile borders last year.

The foul-up occurred eight months ago in India’s Chaamb-Akhnoor sector in southern Kashmir, where large tank formations had been placed for a strike deep into Pakistan in case the standoff erupted into war, officials said. A tank regiment commander sent a laptop for repairs to a civilian technician not knowing the hard disk contained the battle plans of India’s armoured formation in the region, they said.

The technician fitted a new hard disk into the laptop and sent the discarded unit to a local university, where students stumbled across the vast military data bank, classified top secret

It makes me think. How secure are the indian nuclear weapons ?

What were the battle plans? Let me guess:

Crash a few planes into enemy ISI trees, step on their own landmines while trying to cross the border then go home and squawk about how much damage they are going to do next time (yawn)

No wonder they're mad that the laptop fell into civilian hands.

I am afraid they are not ready to be KAMI KAZIS unless the IAF planes are designed to do that. and planes are not letting commanders down up till now

damn it, india may be planning to destroy the lalu khet airport like last time :) anyone ever heard of that.

it is not that important.i think the informations leaked out were exaggerated and i doubt it was a tactic by RAW to check the civilian resentiments.
