Alright IT whizkids, throw me the best laptop in the market. Im looking at Toshiba, Sony, & Dell…top of the line. I saw the Qosmio engine in Toshiba & they really rock, but the Sony WAIO has some really neat features too. So I want the Xperts out there to give me an opinion on what is the best buy out there. There is no budget limit, & I dont want Acers…
Plus, Im an IT techie myself, but I dont know much about the laptops lately so pardon me my ignorance, or shall we say laziness…!
I have seen the performance of Toshiba & Im impressed. They are the best laptop producers, but their prices fall faster than a deck of cards on a table. There is stiff competition from Sony if Im not mistaken.
How bout Asus, do they build good laptops too…? I havent seen any in Dubai, but would love to hear what the US/other guppies have to say.
Been using Dell's Latitude series for 4 years now... and no problems. D400 that I use is very light-weight, but quite capable. X400 is probably top-of-the-line. Though in laptops you need to figure out your use to get to top-of-the-line.
Do you want features packed with a huge wide-screen, or do you want the lightest and the meanest machine they can make?
If its light-weight, its going to be a smaller screen.
I dont want those 17 inchers, they are bulky, I picked it & it was huge Faisal bhai, I want something with everything packed in it. I am even buying 2 PCs iNshAllah, Asus definitely with Wi Fi & everything that u can imagine, coz Im building my own small home network. 1 PC for my young sis, laptop for me, & the other PC for my other sisters.
Im using the laptop for my photography purposes later on in the future, coz Im buying a digital SLR . I was buying the Canon Pro S1, but stopped, coz the prices of digital SLRs were going to fall steeply, & they have. From $3K+ to a mere $1200, now this is definitely the wait.
Umar bhai, why r u getting a Sony, any special features that Dell dont carry...?
You wanna get portable notebook instead of a DTR (desktop replacement) for these reasons:
Portable notebook processors are designed to run on lower voltages, run cooler, and have longer battery life.
I've been using a Sony Vaio for about 2 yrs now. My current one is z1vap, with wifi, bluetooth, magic-gate memory slot, cdrw/dvd, etc etc. Its pretty light and oh so sexy.
Before this one I had a Thinkpad, which i loved as well and it was always stable. I don't think I would stray from these 2 brands if i had a choice.
Fujitsu is a good brand which is not as advertised as it should be.
I don't know ... but when someone mentions 'SONY laptops' it just boils me blood ... these guys are just "in" the laptop market to make money outta their big name ... they don't know jack about laptops ...
I bought a Compaq purely because of price and now I regret it. Mainly because it is too heavy for me and I need something light that I can carry back and forth to work, school and home without much hassle.
So while, speed, model and stuff are important, weight isn't any less.
