Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories!
Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds .
Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery), Press the Power button, Look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning.
If it worked nice if not then will look further for more.
Try what aaho has suggested. If that does not help then I think the solution you used to clean the laptop might have somehow found its way inside the LCD, moisture on the LCD connector can cause it to act like it is doing currently, continue to use the laptop as it is, it should help dry off the moisture inside thats preventing the LCD to work normally.
Edit: I personally would have disassembled the lcd assembly and cleaned out the inverter, lcd contact points. But I cant recommend that to you as I’m not sure how experienced you are with laptops, you can easily break the body or even the lcd in attempts of disassembling it. Next best solution as mentioned previously is to let the moisture dry off by using it as it is.
