The anti virus expired in.Jan.
We.can’t connect to the internet on it. Although the nets working on our phones and tablet. So is it the anti virus we need or is there another issue. Obviously I’ll be getting a Norton anti virus soon but wanted to know why the net doesn’t work on it.

What kind of internet? Wired? Wireless? Are you connecting to a router? How old is the computer? What is the operating system on it?

Its wireless connection by router. Laptop around 5 6 years old.

What protocol are you using? It could be that the router (if new or newer*) is on 'n' i.e. 802.11 a/b/g/n while your old computer might only be going up to 'g' speeds. You seem like a computer pendu so I don't know if you can actually access router settings based on what we tell you! :p

^ that may be a reason but normally (if they didnt done anything fancy like make the router N only) the router and the laptop will negotiate and will find the optimal protocol or wireless standard automatically.
But there are 100s of other reasons for no wireless connection, may be your laptop has wireless on/off switch, may the wireless card is disabled from BIOS/Windows, can you see your wireless connection from your laptop?
May be the password is wrong, may be the wireless NIC driver didnt installed or has some issue, we still dont know what happens when you try to connect to the wireless, does it gives you an error?
