laptop crashed... urgent help!!!

ok, now my laptop for some very odd reason has crashed. how do i get the hard drive out? i know this is very stupid question but i really need help…

it's taken out from underneath. there are screws holding the compartment together. depending on the model, one is for battery and other one for hard drive. i would suggest you google it to get a diagram or something, because each model differs in where exactly the harddrive is located. they're all accessed from under the laptop though. :) good luck

Look up your laptop's Make and Model number. Then based on that do a search on google for a possible repair manual for your laptop. I would recommend following instructions on a repair manual rather than just unscrewing whatever screws visible. These manuals have specific instructions for every different task like removing keyboard, removing display, removing hdd, etc etc.

First, why do you need to get the drive out if it's crashed. Second, it depends on the make and model of the lappy. Different brands have different difficulty in removing the drives.

  • Why do you need to take HD out? (There are many types of crashes, Physical Hard disk crash is one of the seriuos and somewhat rare ones) Do you have some confirmation that HD is physically inoperapable?

The harddrive didn't crash...it is something with the power... i wanted to take it out so i could continue my work on the other computer but i didn't have any screwdrivers at home :( anyway now it is resting at the help desk.
