did you encounter a language barrier after going abroad from Pakistan?
Re: ~Language~
well not really i know how to speak urdu.. but after coming back my english surely was messed up for a few weeks
Re: ~Language~
**u mean when we came to a foreign land from our native countries?
no…i did my education back home through English medium. only problem i had when i went to an island in Canada where they have ‘Bayman’ accent which is harder to follow as compared to the one in the mainland.
strangely, after 11 years, i still have lots of problem understanding the Brit accent. when i visit my folks in London, my host’s children are born N raised there so they have the real Brit accent and i do NOT get 70% what they say. i feel embarrassed :(**
Re: ~Language~
not really, i never encountered any difiiculties in understanding or communicating during my stay in manchester or london. But yeah initially i found it hard to follow the scotish accent. ![]()
Re: ~Language~
Coming from Pakistan to England… hell yeah! I still used to say Scooze me instead of Excuze me… and every time somone asked me something I kept throwing in Potowari or Pahri regional words and had a really bad stutter for a while… Thank heavens all that behind me now… ![]()
Re: ~Language~
I already was dealing with foreigners back home so I was at ease communicating in English therefore I was fer fer , fer fer from day one.
Re: ~Language~
^ Oi not fair… ![]()
Well I suppose it serves me right for skipping English classes in Metric. Afterall it was a perfect example of Karma. You see I spent all my time riding or playing hockey or kabadi instead of attending Enlish lectures. At the time I said something along the lines of why learn a language of another country which I have no intention to visit… oh my youthfull arrogance. look at me now a servant to the system in Britian. ![]()

Re: ~Language~
Why only english with a capital E? if ur going into grammar then rest of the sentence is not right either.
