Landline phone vs VoIP

Which one is more convenient?

Vonage and Skype are cheaper, but skype looks more cheaper $2.99 per month and then per minute rate + call connection fee

What will you suggest?

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

I dont know of many people these days who have a land line. I like vonage since its one fee and everything is included.

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

+1 for vonage. It comes with one Extension free that can be used on your smartphone to make international calls.

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

We ditched the landline many years ago and have had Vonage since

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

i wonder how many homes still have landlines. my family in Canada does have a landline phone while none of my brothers/sisters in India have landlines. how about you guys?

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

We have in Pakistan :hinna:

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

No landline , no Vonage whole family has iPhones. For overseas call there are many options now.

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

Vonage now has two extensions free. Changed recently I think.

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

MagicJack. But for international calls I use Google voice.

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

Experts do say to keep landline for emergency. All the VOIP services would be out when electricity or internet is down and cell phone towers get jammed in emergencies.

I wonder if text services are affected by cell phone emergencies though 911 can't get text messages.

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

^ Text messaging runs over separate channels . It doesn't get jammed .

Re: Landline phone vs VoIP

I am thinking about ooma.
