You could say Its an Aussie Mithai. Traditional Aussie treat, usually eaten with tea.
Small squares of plain cake, dipped in melted chocolate and sugar and coated in desiccated coconut

Those were just lying around at home, here is a clearer pic.

Anchal I baked those, but I did not know that they were aussie sweets, they are yummy

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/ok.gif

Anchal, meiN tum say door hee kab hooN?

You asked Anchal, but I have a simular kind recipe. I will post it here I hope Anchal does not mind.

Here I go, I got this recipe from a friend. She did not measure with the usual measurments but with small cups, I dunno why?

I call this Elmaza’s cake

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/biggrin.gif

that was her name.

Take really small cups, like the ones turkish people use to drink their tea!

For the fillings:

5 small cups of flour
4 small cups of sugar
(I take less, as I dont like it too sweet, so here u can adjust to your own needs)
2 small cups of oil
1 small cup of milk
4 Eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
1 tablespoon backing powder.

For the toping:

Half liter milk
One bar of cooking choclate
2 spoons of butter
1 bag of desiccated coconut

Mix the first part, the fillings together like you do when backing a cake. Put the mixure in a form and place inside the oven.

Bake like this, first turn the oven to 250 C
then to 200 and lastly when the colour turns slightly red turn down to 100 C. Check if the inside is backed take out, take it out let is cool.

For the filling, heat milk, place the choclate, butter and let it melt together to a smooth mixture, take out and let it cool.

Cut the fillings into pieces, like shown here in the pic, dip the pieces one by one into the melted choclate and coat in desiccated coconut.

Finished, I hope u enjoy with your tea.

no Saadia, I dont mind at all :–), Thanks for posting the recipe. The only thing is that you dont make lamingtons with fresh cake. A day old cake is alrite cause it’d break into pieces when you try to cut it into squares. Even I didnt know that until a aussie friend told me

phajja bhaijaan, they arent papay though :–)

Ali_R yeah must be

lagta hay SunnyBoy ko dekh kar hi mazaa a giya hay.

Roman, tum mughay zara jaldi say aik emial bhejo, bohat zaroori kaam hay. Serious.

Check your PMs, sweetie.

Anchal I did not know myself but I thought it is better to cut the cake when its still warm

I hope someone can confirm which method is more effecient?
