Lamhe

Anyone remember this masterpiece of a movie starring Anil Kapoor and Sri devi? It had no nonsense elaboration of love that is so annoying in Indian movies these days. ‘Lamhe’ flopped badly in India because Audience were not ready to accept story like this but this movie has the potential to be one of the all time greats in Bollywood history. Atleast in my opinion.

Was a pretty dumb movie...except that the songs were nice.

Maybe not your cup of tea but I think a confusing topic was pretty efficiently handled. and yeah songs were nice, specially the title song.

Re: Lamhe

Bilkul Sahi kaha Saby baaji aapne..
Perfect :k:

It was a great movie. I dont watch Indian movies normally because theyre not my cup of tea, but that film was pretty good so was the soundtrack.

classic movie...too bad it was a flop...but it is dedinetly one of all time favorite movies :)

F&B-- woh tu mainay sahi kaha but spare the ‘baji’ thing  some guppies will start getting confused all over again.

Catty-- Exactly. Hope bollywood could make a movie like this again but i doubt it.

yaasir- yep definately. Anil Kapoor was so life-like in this movie. Younger sri devi’s character was a bit over but still she being such a brilliant actress pulled it off. Anupam Kher is an amazing actor and he cracks up every scene he is in

It is a nice movie. I was too young to understand that concept when it was released.
Anil kapoor does some nice movies after a while and "Lamhe" was one of the best.

I like the song "morni bagaan me nache". awesome

awesome movie ... very mature acting by anilkapoor and sri devi ... one of my all time favourites.

I only recently found out it flopped.. actually only in this thread

It’s one of my favorites, and is always pulled out to watch when we have nothing better to do.. i thought the younger sri devi was so life like. Like, her two roles were worlds apart

my fav song was: yeh lamhe yeh pal humko barson yaad rahein gein

I watched this film years ago and fell in love with it and its songs. Only recently, I watched it again.

Watching it as an adult, I found it disturbing. I mean, Anil Kapoor's character is in love with and somewhat obsessed with Sridevi Senior. He then eventually falls in love with her lookalike daughter who is half his age. Ain't that disturbing???? Not the age difference. I found the fact that he marries the daughter of his obsession disturbing. Not only that, but she knows he was in love with her mother but marries him anyway. I found it a bit incestuous eventhough they weren't related.

^ ello

hmm i didnt think he was obsessed with the older sri devi.. more like a teen crush.. cus hes shown to be only about 17-18.. no?

i still like the movie… i guess i dont read much into it.. hehe

Yeah, maybe your are right. I still found it disturbing. :D

^ haha yeah.. ive found other movies disturbing.. cant recall names rigth now, but for some reason, i didnt find anything wrong with this one.. hmm

That is precisely the reason the film flopped. Actually, IMO thats what director wanted to convey that he loved the younger sridevi just for what she is. Not because she was her first love's (or crush) daughter. He couldnt convince the indian audience but I thought the sequences were handled pretty intelligently given the weird nature of the story.
