Lamb Meat

I dont know why…I cannot get over the game-y smell that lamb has.

My family does not eat lamb…who does here? How do you kill that smell?

Re: Lamb Meat

mary does.

she always has a little lamb.

Re: Lamb Meat

If i make salan i bonfied the ghost first with onions ,garlic, giner then add spieces then again bonfied.
If for roast then i marinate it for atleast 2-3 days before.
i do this both for chicken and lamb

Re: Lamb Meat

From red meats, we only eat lamb. But you're absolutely right, not everyone is able to cook lamb so that it is eatable. I lived away from home last semester and my friend was also pakistani and she loooooved to cook lamb, but the smell was SO unbearable for me. Until then I actually had never had lamb cooked by anyone else than my mum, so I didnt even know the smell. Yikes.

How we make it:
Add about 1-2 cups of water with onions, garlic, ginger, salt and whole black pepper. Let it cook till water is evaporated and then proceed as normal handi, but keep in my mind you need to bhonofy it a lot. We bhonfy it after adding ghee/oil to it till oil/ghee separates. Then you add mirch wagehera and bhono a bit again. Hard work, but worth it!

Re: Lamb Meat

 I eat meat every day and I have no idea what this smell is.

Re: Lamb Meat

Its just a weird game-y smell that I cannot describe exactly.

We primarily eat goat and cow in my house...Ive never seen my mother cooking lamb BUT Ive heard its very tasty.

Sweet...I think Im going to try that but in a small quantity to see how it turns out.

Re: Lamb Meat

Im not sure about the smell either, but we only ever lamb meat, and i can tell you now its delicious, its the best meat by far :yummy:

Re: Lamb Meat

bhoonify the masala of onions toms, spices with oil til it turns a redish colour and little bubbles splatter…a salan aroma will let you know that the masala is done ,add meat and bhoonify a bit more add water and cook til tender yummy meat handi is ready

i find keema is the worst not cooked properly it has a yucky smell…:daaghu2:

Re: Lamb Meat

Lamb meat does have a smell of it own, but I think some people dont notice it. I dont know how though, because IMO it is very awful. The key to "kill" the smell is def. garlic, ginger and loads of bhonofying!

Re: Lamb Meat

Yeah thats how my mom cooks it, Its turns out fine..no smell at all.

Re: Lamb Meat

The only best way to kill the smell of lamb up to 99% is to boil it with whole garam masala - long, bari illachi, kali mirch, zeera and dar cheeni.

Re: Lamb Meat

just accept that those cute lil cuddly pets are not meant to be cooked. jeez..

Re: Lamb Meat

using a lot of garlic should help with the smell.
