It is in Karachi, official name is Liaquatabad …

I guess, and some one can correct me if I am wrong, that real lalu khet is the area close to Liaquatabad post office (or firdos cinema), which is just one residential block of Liaquatabad.

Great Hockey Captain Islah Uddin was born and raised there, TV stars like Moin Akhtar , Umer Sharif were born and raised there.

What I remember, Liaquatabad 10 number area near Girls polytechnique and the cinema is the actual Lalu Khet... but then, the whole Liaquatabad (Society - as Umer Shareef puts it) has a famous (or infamous) name of Lalu khet. People from the area are not considered much educated and are very flammatory in nature. Jalaao, Gheraao, pathraao are some of the traits that have gone through some unique innovational stages in this area.

As far as I know Lalookhait was a farm owned by someone named Laloo. It is no more there, it got engulfed by Liaqatabad.

I think I heard it in Raja Hindustani, not sure if it was Lalu khet though. Perhaps it was someother khet :hmmm:

There is a patli gali in Lalu khet as well…

the famous modern muhaavra of “patli gali saY nikalna” originated from there as well.

Karachi has many strange named mohallas still, like gora qabrustan, paposh nagar, gujjar nala, banaras chowk , nagan chowrangi, mochee morh.
I will keep adding as I remember them.

^^ SOme of them are not mohallas, just names of bus stops, like Aisha Manzil.

Karachi got its unique nomenclature becuase of Mini bus culture .. which is hardly present in any other city of pakistan.

Conductors of those minu buses named the areas and they became famous.

Mochi Mor is junction of block 1, 2, 5 and 13-D in gulshan-e-Iqbal. I used to live in Blolck 2, very close to Mochi Mor.

Moti Mehal is another example of Mini Bus Culture fame.
