Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

Shocking revelations. I wonder what the innocent students were doing with such sophisticated weaponry.

Madrassa registers to clear ambiguity
Published: Wednesday, 18 July, 2007, 01:56 AM Doha Time

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani investigators probing links between Lal Masjid and terrorists have discovered enrolment registers detailing the male and female students who studied at the seminary.
The investigators believe the information would help clear up uncertainty about the number of people killed or missing in the operation to clear the mosque and seminary of militants.
“The lists of the registered students match the number of students evacuated or captured from the mosque and Jamia Hafsa. The lists are in the writing of the Jamia Hafsa administrative staff and these will quash rumours regarding the number of students missing, dead or alive in the entire operation,” said an official on condition of anonymity.
These lists would also be issued to the media and the parents of the students, he added.
The official said that intelligence agencies were “shocked” at the highly sophisticated and modern weapons, including bullet-proof and explosion-proof blankets that the militants in the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa compound had, some of it even better than the gear given to Pakistani commandos.
“Bullet-and explosion-proof blankets are the latest combat gear, and even the Pakistan Army has not been equipped with this protective gear. The agencies are now investigating where these militants got such sophisticated equipment,” the official said.
Similarly, the militants had smoke grenades, fire grenades and splinter grenades, and “dum-dum” bullets, which explode after penetrating the target, causing maximum internal damage.
“Smoke grenades and fire grenades are not provided to the Pakistan Army as these are very exceptional,” said the official.
The official said 29 of the commandos injured in the operation got their injuries from splinter grenades. He also said there was one “accidental” suicide bombing during the operation which killed six students.
“When the commandos tried to enter a room where half a dozen militants were present, one of the militants detonated his suicide jacket killing everyone present in the room,” he said.
Security agencies are interrogating 12 aides of the Lal Masjid clerics at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi about funding for the mosque and the clerics’ friends and acquaintances.
Arrested on July 10 and July 11 from Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa, the 12 men have also been implicated in the kidnapping of four policemen and seven Chinese nationals during the mosque’s moral policing drive.–Internews

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

and why did not they use those ammunation then :hehe: :rotfl:

I know I know because they were provided with those ammunation after the end of Operation Silence :omg:

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

Where does it say they did not use ammunition. Your silly, pathetic argument is that as ammunitions rounds where left over they must NOT have used it. How stupid is that.

Any evidence to backup your alleged allegation of planting evidence?

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

maybe because they were too busy trying to find burqas

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

and running tunnel to tunnel room to room. How could they use the heavy weapons when they didn’t have the courage to face the other side and go into battle face front? They had to run with just AK47s in hand leaving all other piled up weapons unused. While piling up they didnt bother to realize that it takes lot of courage to use them and go into battle too :cb:

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

o yaar have ch ifti do a sou motu and investigate. that is his job now.

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

I hope and pray that he does that.

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

do you also hope and pray that he authorizes the use of force against other militant mullahs who are taking the law into their own hands...kinda like those shariah campions who just had ppl parade naked for some theft or something :)

I sure do.

In the end, everyone in that bldg had ample opportunity to get out, unlss they did not hear the languages that were being used to give the notices to leave, or were hearing impaired,

those who stayed either wanted to stay and fight, in which case what they got was deserved, or they were being held as human shields and got in the crossfire for which the other ghazi and his wife need to be given the death penalty.

ifti also needs to look into the irresponsible statements by other politicians (mostly MMA) which are a cause of public unrest, and getthem sorted as well.

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

What naked? They have a problem with Shahid Afridi appearing in "vulgar" pepsi bill boards then these mullah put on a strip show; two faced hypocrites.

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

Those explosive proof blankets I have never heard of... If they really work as well as they should, then this could be great for troops in Waziristan... hmmm.

Anyways, we all know the Red Mosque was a terrorist base, so why the surprise?

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

Hm. I'm not familiar with the military terminology here - might ask someone about this stuff that's in the field.

Keep in mind: Once a liar, chances are - always a liar.

If the registries are published and it turns out that the numbers correlate with what the government was saying and is contradictory to what Ghazi was saying (he said he didn't have kids inside, I heard this from his own mouth as he was speaking over cell phone to the media), then we'll know who to trust and who to not trust :)

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

My guess these weaponry were probably stolen from NATO and the Americans in Afghanistan and then smuggled into Pakistan.

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

Yeah, thats seems the most likely route, but NATO people arent sleeping, they wouldnt just let such sophisticated stuff be stolen so easily.

Re: Lal Masjid terrorists were better armed than the Pakistan Army

That report is a bit OTT. Bullet and explosion proof blankets are really curtains. Hang them over to stop shattered glass doing damage and stops small calibre rounds.

Those "dum-dum" bullets are nothing new. Been around since the 19th century but illegal under international law hence decline in popularity. Basically when the bullet enters body it is supposed to shatter and explode doing a lot more damage. Simply filing a split in the tip can achieve this and probably what the terrorists did.

For these reasons I think it is over hyped.
