The troops only took up positions to prevent these people from repeating their badmashi, but it was the students that tried to attack them... Police and paramilitary fought back in self defense.
But so what if more of these A holes come out on the streets.. Better to have your enemy in front of you then behind your back right?

Apparently the students stole some police equipment and weapons, to which the police replied with tear gas…
Government still tolerating on Lal Masjid situation: Interior ministry
ISLAMABAD: The interior ministry has issued a statement that more than one hundred students snatched weapons and wireless from policemen near Jamia Hafsa at 11-30 after which the police used tear gas to disburse the students. The students in reply started firing.
The press release said that rangers’s one soldier was killed and five of their personnel were injured.
The interior ministry said that the government is still tolerating on the Lal Masjid situation. All the roads and streets leading to Lal Masjid have been closed.
The ministry said that the government is not taking any major action just to save the female students present there from any loss.
This is the first statement issued by the interior ministry after the Lal Masjid incident.

Seriously hope govt can negotiate a safe retreat for these girls before getting all the rest.

GEO UPDATE: GEO is quoting one minister (Zafar Waraich) that Govt will take action in next 24 hours. He warned opposition parties not to do politics over dead bodies. GEO's reporter is saying that there are chances tht rangers (and other forces) will enter LAL MASJID at night.....
Hope this ends with minimum death tool. LAL Masjid brothers should be captured live, should be tried and hanged publicly.

Doctors at two hospitals said the five dead included two policemen, one soldier, a militant and a civilian. However, clerics at the mosque claimed that 10 of their supporters died, according to a lawmaker sent to mediate.

This has been cooked by our beloved Intelligence to use whenever they need. Due to the humiliation and defeat in court yesterday, Mush govt has got the biggest kick in last 8 years of dictatorship. The words and tone of the full bench was not less than a slap on Hazrat Musharraf. So this Lal Masjid arcade game has started on full scale. Govt has used Lal masjid card atleast three time since March 9, if you recall, whenever they were in danger.
Ik taraf Rs.30 Billion ka ghapla aur doosri taraf do chaar sar phirray judge. Shakaut/Musharraf thought they will bulldoze everything :D but little did they know what is coming.
These Lal Masjid CHAY are on ISI’s payroll, this is there time to put up a show for their masters.
Oh for the love of God, stop trivializing the serious situation with your conspiracy theories of govt distractions. Yes, our intelligence services might have worked with the two mullahs years ago, but that doesn't mean they are currently ploying with them to get their own men killed.

Because all the "students" who are getting killed are brain washed while Abdul Rashid Ghazi and his brother (LAL MASJID CHIEF TERRORISTS) are relaxing safe somewhere inside LAL MASJID. Why would they leave? They will only leave when they will find themselves in danger.
I hope this ends in better way than WACO incident but there is lot of similarity b/w ABDUL RAHID GHAZI and DAVID KORESH

ARY has been exploiting tonight's incidents for cheap ratings. Extremely irresponsible behavior on their behalf. GEO has been okay. I hope all the people who were questioning the government for not establishing its write DO come out (in print and electronic media as well as in social circles) and don't let irresponsible journalists OR opposition parties exploit the situation. Also people with their conspiracy theories, who do it 'just for fun', act responsibly for once.

I think Army knew that some circles will exploit the situation no matter when and how they took the action, so in my view they let the situation simmer so ordinary people can see how these lal masjid goons were acting above the law and themselves demanded the government to do something. I can see how the street sentiments might have been in favor of Lal Masjid 4 months ago. However, that is not the case today (unless of course ARY keeps exploiting the situation with false reports).
