You mean to say, the police don't exist. But I strongly disagree with this.
The military should never be deployed against a nation's own citizens. A police force is in a sense a paramilitary force, and they should be responsible and trained to handle all manner of domestic disturbance.
This is hardly an insurgency.
The fact is, that Pakistan doesn't have a functioning police force is why this situation exists.

all the killings are a shame really, i hope nobody else gets killed. These are misguided fools with a false sense of bravado because of the guns they hold.
I am surprised by all the hatred from the so called moderate ranks on GS who are shouting for these peoples heads and the girls to become the security authority's biatches. What is the difference between the lal masjid fools and you?
Kudos to the Musharraf government for handling it in such professional manner with cooler heads. I am so glad it was the experienced and trained army minds making decisions and not some politician who would have panicked in such a stressful situation.

I'd agree, they're handling it better than I thought they would. Probably end in a siege, unless the students try to storm the troops..."suicide by cop", as they say.

whose sentiments? the lal masjid lamers, their supporters and fans, and people who had ideological alignment with them. Its not as the ppl in lal masjid did not have enough time to sort themselves out. They are not children to be told what is right and what is wrong.
The were brazenly operating like a ghunda group harrassing people issuing ultimatums, threatening suicide attacks all that.
so there wa splenty of time to talk but these ass clowns did nto want to talk. Even if you look at their supporters on this forum, their tone has changed considerably now.

update:Maulana Abdul Aziz (chief terrorist who was getting BASHARAT for jehad and shahadat) tried to escape in BURQA with 200-300 other female "students" but was arrested when security agencies searched that group of females

Maulana Abdul Aziz the spokesman was trying to get away wearing a burqa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The womans police officers were frisking him thinking hes a woman and the other women beside him started to resist and there was some fighting. When they frisked the person they found out it was Maulana Abdul Aziz!!!!!!!!!
