More: Operation doesn't mean an attack on the mosque. They are only demanding the people to surrender weapons and come out (and they'll be let go).. but nobody is entering the mosque

UPDATE: Minister is saying that ARMY is not going to ENTER IN LAL MASJID. Its not that kind of operation but we have decided not to tolerate this any more

I think the decisions taken are very sane and Govt has taken utmost steps to ensure minimum civilian casualty.
Lets hope somethign good comes out of this horrible mess.

The events are reminiscent of a failed state lead by a failed leader holding on to power through all forms of repression. Not to condone the deeds of the people at Lal masjid, but when Musharraf came up with tacit allegation that suicide bombers are holed up in the masjid, I knew that he's only laying the ground work for what is to come next, and it didn't take long. This is no doubt a multi throng approach to fend off humiliation suffered over the CJ issue and to stave off crumbling support amongst the populace..
Even though, the doom is imminent in whatever capacity you want to look at it, nonetheless, the regime has its own nefarious agenda close to its heart over the good of general public; all they have created thus far is anarcy from end to end..
On the other hand you have a misguided bunch of followers that don't even know the foundational principles of the religion which they are vowing to defend..there are no winners or losers in this - only dead, maimed and exploited...

I second that. This will save the live of people who are willing to surrender (if chief terrorists allow them to). This is the best option for govt.
