Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Nah. I honestly think that we have seen the worst of class polarization in Pakistan and the future should look brighter. If this Lal Masjid fiasco has achieved anything, it would be that the public opinion has shifted a lot in favour of the government and the philosophy of moderation that it preaches. These Islamists will surely dwindle in numbers and I'm sure the future elections in the country will reflect that (bye bye MMA from places outside of NWFP).

However, I do expect these extremists to become more defiant and hostile as their numbers dwindle (with the assistance by Al-Qaeda and the likes jumping up to sustain some presence in the country) and I hope to god that the law enforcement agencies along with our intelligence agencies are up to the occasion like they never were before. We can ill afford to let mosques stock up on their weapons arsenal within our cities and have ninjas challenge the writ of the government as if they are the opposition party.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

This is absolute BS. Please try to keep your sour grapes out of sight. Those brave soldiers died trying to save innocent lives within the mosque. If it wasn't for that, I'm sure the government was more than happy to bomb the mosque and everyone within to smithereens.

I, for one, salute all our shaheeds and the brave soldiers who jeopardized their lives against these brain washed terrorists trying to incite civil riots within the country. Instead of interviewing the families and friends of all the Lal Masjid terrorists, our media should focus more on the widows of the our shaheeds and ask them how they feel. When all this mess is done, I hope General Pervez Musharaf holds a memorial service for all the soldiers who lost their lives in the capital secretariat. That will serve well as a closing chapter to this entire sorry story.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Why don't we let God decide who gets the title of shaheed?

I mean, I didn't think real muslims would DARE start naming who's shaheed and who's not as if they were God.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

So wherte are the innocents that it saved - intellegence failure is all over media today.. not a single soul captured sadf that he/she was captured!!! and if they were killed by commandos where are the corpes.. I think commandos killed a lot of kids and women in the opration and now they are cleaning the act by not allowing media in...

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Does it not disturb you that these girls are making this claim?

Either they are aware of their actions, and should be held responsible for them, or they were brainwashed by militants, and the militants should be responsible.

We want to talk about Islamic law? If the girls are past onset of puberty, they need to be in jail.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

You actually expect the media to interview anyone who was actually captured? I suppose everyone who came to save their kids had death wishes of their own and stayed inside the mosque without any pressure from the terrorists within. Please, get real.

And you do realize that there is a reasonable limit to freedom of speech right? You can't just walk into where ever the heck you feel like. Obviously the army is not going to let the media wander right into the masjid after a major operation had just taken place and dead bodies are lying everywhere. The commandos may or may not have killed a lot of innocent souls, but we all knew the risk of collateral damage in an operation such as this one.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

I don't doubt lots of women and kids were killed. I don't appreciate the government for clearly lying about death counts and quickly burying the bodies. They need to be ID'd and relatives need to take the bodies home for burial.

Its so sad. I hope parents around the country start being more vigilant as to which schools they're sending their kids to. I also hope the government does what is so easy to do: set up a better education system.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

DG-ISPR disclosed in a press conference yesterday that there was no mine, suicide bomb-jackets,underground passage found in the lal masjid..it could be a mistake in the information of the intelligence to report the presence of such weapons, etc inside the jaamia.

PLUS Sherpao admitted in Talat Hussain show on AAJ TV last night that they found no women/children hostages AFTER the operation began and the forces entered the jaamia. all the 419 women they have recovered were the ones who came out before the final operation

this is what govt. officials have said !! ANY COMMENTS ?

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

You make a logical point but my problem is with people who believe that they are the guardians of Islam and that only the have the reasonable knowledge and respect of the religion to label someone a shaheed or not. It may come as a surprise to them but no, most of us know and love Islam as well. To not call a fallen soldier who died trying to save innocent lives a shaheed is disrespecting their memory and I can't stand for that.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

I agree that if one can't hold their tongue, then its always more humble to err on the side of calling someone shaheed when its dubious as to whether they are shaheed, rather than saying they can't possibly be shaheed. Its just plain flat out respect.

But its best not to start arguing about it - it wont change God's decision.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Protest, investigate, capture evidence... The govt would have listend, considering they were ready to bend over backwards for these people...
The true fault of these people was in their taking the law into their own hands...
They were dangerous.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Read you history buddy, thats what people have ALWAYS said about their times…
1000 years ago we were in times of fitna, 100 years ago were times of fitna, 10 years ago there was fitna, and today is no different!
And im willing to bet that a 100 years from now, there will be someone saying they are living in times of Fitna..

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

i must say alot of people are there to attend Ghazi’s funeral:eek: i dont know maybe pakistani people think differently .maybe they are with ghazi movement.after hearing media and seeing people on his funearal yahi lagta hai:hmmm:

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

I don’t think it’s so much that they are for Ghazi, but against Mush.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Ghazi is a man of principles :chai:

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Yeah, he said he would die, so he died. All mullah/terrorsits should have the same principles. :chai:

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Lot of people are wandering to see the vanished kids as .. whereas agencies are burying loads of corpes without identificatio in Islamabad.. Supreme court order can only investigate the truth..

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

These are only your personal emotions devoid of any bonafide facts. The facts on the ground resonate a completely different course. If army has only become a tool of repression and barbarous injustice based on nefarious reasons, then the authority will be put to test even on more grandeur basis. I think this is only the beginning. When you have a gang of thugs that can contract out vigilante attacks, like the ones by MQM in Karachi in May, and are bent to serve the interests of few by annihaliting law when it serves their interests, then the doom in imminent - it's only a matter of when..

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

sure, if this floats your boat, then by all means, to each his own..

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread - Operation Silence (merged)

Gang of thugs, i.e, Taliban and related terrorists have killed thousands of Pakistanis over the course of many years now.
