the rational response to the recent news(fata) is to panic into some war of no end. whats been happening in FATA is truelly sad. the loss of innocent soldiers is felt by all.
the FATA situation is way different to that of the lal masjid. lal masjid situation was debateable, i felt sorry for their plight and for the plight of the country for having to take action against the ‘extremely religious’. i do not classify lal masjid as terrorists. i do not believe the obviously false stories and alignments in the media.
however, the recent upsurge from the tribals in attacks against the poor souls of the army jawan is real and has been going on for longer then the lal masjid affair. this is where millitary and agency action is needed. not overtly heavy handed military action but a smart multipronged job. tribals can only have limited lines of attack, the network they have setup can only have limited members. they are an immediate threat
the timing of these incidents is regretable, and to an extent leaves the people of pakistan divided based on the positions they took for the lal masjid debate. this is a terrible danger, the timing pushes the odd person into the realms of extremism. the mazbi still feel the outrage, casting a doubt over future government intentions. the liberals have much to learn over how they operated on the fob bandwagon. the sesitivities of the religious come paramount in pakistani politics.
now isnt the time for looking into the crystal ball as it’ll paint a very bleak picture, now is the time to make the future. progression for a unique country like pakistan carries a unique path, to follow the paths of other countries (as succesful as they might be) is not for us. the quicker that liberals/seculars admit that the better.
the introduction or better policing of islamic laws will be a welcome breath of unity, thats what will pull the heartstrings of pakistan and start a new era of economic progression.

People all over the world have differences of opinions. People in Pakistan have always been divided over religious, ethinic pr political views, however that does not mean that this division will become violent to the extent where there is a civil war.
99.9% (my own statistic) of the people of Pakistan have a non vilent difference of opinion. The current situation is created by a few, who may be using the religion card but are not true representatives of the religion itself.

its good to see some optimism, although it sounded truer yesterday then after reading todays news. the danger is going down the iraq route

the figure of 0.1% is pretty much correct (i hope) but that still leaves 160,000 suspects. this figure is enough to cause major destruction and anarchy.
im awaiting the governments responce to the FATA militants. the mission should inco-operate a task to disarm all tribals immediately or in the near future.

Yes agree because Lal Masjid is located in the land of pure, hence your own people and on the other hand FATA people are aliens, your enemies.
How come Lal Masjid case is controversial, I think that is damn clear now, how can you justify the accumulation of heavy weapons in a mosque, how to justify conversion of a mosque into an ammunition dump. How to justify taking hostages of so many young students.
What I personally believe, a prejudice and racist mind never go for justification.
Dear Sir, I think it is otherwise. The people of FATA have been used by you for your own nefarious designs, you have alienated them time and again, you dont grant them budget, you never brought them into main stream etc etc, so their action can still be justified (Though I hate to justify any such criminal action)
Atleast in this most deplorable hour of our history, we dissociate ourselves from prejudice and dirty approach.

my brother i whole heartedly believe in peace with the our tribal community
if there is a way what looms over pakistan can be rectified then that way should be followed
the people who set all this up have got away. they are retired in washington, arabia and pakistan. the way this has come about is sad
i do not support military action in FATA if any 'real peace deal' can be reached.
Keep in mind that these problems look like they're growing now in part because of heavy Pakistani media coverage. This has especially increased after the Lal Masjid problem.
