OK, here is what will happen if government takes any actions against these people. If an action is taken a few of these people will get hurt, some may die if rsistance is shown. Then all the people who are here blaming musharraf for being weak will say oh the pakistani fauj is fighting against its own people, musharraf should resign because of this action, the army should go because they are so cruel.
This will be exactly like what happened in the CJ case. When he was put under house arrest people were shouting and screaming anti govt slogans on this board. When restrictions were taken off and the a$$hole became a political puppet, people blame Musharraf for what happened in Karachi. Why is the CJ not responsible for his actions anymore? Heck anybody, including me knew that nothing good will comeout of what he and the political parties were trying to do in karachi.
Anyone who thinks people would not have died on the 12th if MQM had not taken an aggressive stand are nothing but fools. ANP/ PKMAP people came out fully armed, so did the MQM goons. If MQM had not come out with guns that day bodies would still have fallen. This is the sad face of Pakistani politics. Pakistani siyasat hamesha se lashoN pe hoti rahi hai. It would have been no different this time.
This is the sole reason why I blame Chaudhry iftekhar for ever accepting to become a pawn for the political parties. Blame who ever you want to MQM for non MQM supporters, PPP or JI for MQM supporters, it doesnt make a difference. People are dead because Iftekhar saab had a God-complex and in order to save his job took this course.
Now come and tell me how it is a right to have rallies anywhere one wants to.

I keep saying our politics are so polarized, people see so much of black and white. the concept of if one side is wrong, other side could be wrong just does not exist, we still go by if we dont liek someone then anyone who is opposed to them is a good guy and cant or has not done anything wrong. reading the forums here prove it. One can only imagine what bcom mein nakam types in pakistan think like :)
PS: i have no problem with military taking out morons, as long as it is done right.

he is in a damned if you do and damned if you dont scenario. if he does not do anything then people will cal him weak, a I have, or would claim that lal masjid fundoos are his pawns ..which others have claimed.
If he takes action, then people would whine about military takin action against its own ppl, or that this is a diversion.

he is going to get bad press either way.
The crises has been manufactured, and those who manufactured it can make it disappear very quickly and the herd of sheep that our natio has become will move on.
So, I think his actions would worry less about what local papers or TV shows, street cafe intellectuals, drawing room uncles, or web pehalwaans have to say, and more of how it is seen as by the powers that be.

If you support truth then you can not support the anti-Islam fitnah-mongers of Lal Masjid. They are the dark side of Islam.
They represent NO SIDES of Islam. Not good, not bad, not ugly. they have no claim to anything Islamic period.
If you look at the pictures of it's 'laathi holding students', you'll notice the 14, 15, 16 year old kids, or some older bearded types, and all these people have spent their entire lives on the rotis of charities that the Madarrassah's gathered in the name of Islam. Lal Masjid and Madrassahs like it are badly managed orphanage/abandoned-kids-care-center, leaders of which exploit the violent tendencies of uninformed, unproductive kids for their own benefit. I am sure in their mind they think they are serving Islam, but creating your own parallel government through violent teenage kids is no Islam.

The news is sketchy cuz no official is willing to say anything but they have shown video footage and sure thing rangers and police is deployed around the area. Roads leading to lal masjid have been blocked. Shops ordered closed at 9.00 and police taking position at rooftops of these shops. Footage showed Lal masjid students preparing bunkers with cement bags.
The govt. needs to stamp its authority and end this thing once and for all, instead of just freeing its policemen and going home.

Day before yesterday when they first reported the new policemen hijack, it was raining in Isl and it seemed they were all set to use the late night and weather cover for action.
All surprise element is lost and both sides are flexing muscles even the media is there. What the heck is the govt doing? WHy dont they act swiftly? Why such prep time allowed for the fanatics…!?
