ISLAMABAD: Police on Monday registered a case against former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf over the alleged murder of cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and his wife during the Lal Masjid military operation.
Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi of the Islamabad High Court heard the case pertaining to a contempt of court plea submitted in the court by Haroon Rasheed, the son of the deceased Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rasheed Ghazi.
The petition had sought contempt proceedings against two police officials who had refused to register a criminal case against former president Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf.
During the hearing Justice Qureshi remarked that failure to register a case despite the court’s orders was tantamount to contempt of court.
The bench ordered the station house officer (SHO) of Aabpara police station to register a case against the former president on the spot at the court premesis and to provide the court with a copy of the lodged FIR.
Haroon Rasheed had earlier filed a petition against Musharraf for his involvement in the killing of his father and grandmother during the Lal Masjid operation.

So you take a mosque, desecrate it with arms and ammunitions, manipulate the females to go nuts with sticks and beat people on the street, kidnap civilians and foreigners in the name of God and commit acts of sheer treason by rejecting Pakistani law within the confines of your red palace and then you want to use the same court system to lodge a case against a leader who is protecting national security and clamping down on terrorism?

I understand Musharaff made some blunders towards the end of his tenure especially NRO but this is beyond pathetic. It was Musharaff's responsibility to take action against people who were taking law in their own hands. Lot of time was given to these armed thugs and many people went for negotiations but it all failed. This was surely not one of Musharaff's faults and Benazir's murder wasn't his responsibility either.
No one would open NRO cases against Musharaff because most of them are beneficiaries themselves and are instead opening stupid and meaningless cases.

SHO did not register the case before this link says. Also what is the problem if a case is registered? Doesn't mean he is really charged or convicted ....yet.
Now people have problem even registering the case?
In any country, anyone should be able to register a case against anyone if the law is to be upheld.
Too many times FIR cannot be filed even in domestic issues due to corruption in the system. And this makes people not trust the legal system and hold grudge.
Hope people welcome freedom to file a case by anyone against anyone.

This could be a move to win further support of the former bodyguard of Abdur Rasheed Ghazi, Asmatullah Muavia. The TTP Punjab leader recently showed some willingness to talk and apparently some secret talks are happening. This could be on his demand.

They provoked the government and state to its limits and thus invoked the action on themselves. We hope for the justice too but not from this madar-pidar azad adlia

So what’s the problem? Any citizen of the country should be free to register a case against whoever he/she wants? If a court asks the police officers to do their jobs, how does that make them loony? I commend the courts, quite often our police is hesitant to lodge FIRs against influential individuals.
