Re: Lahore Shut Down
Yea … u r right ![]()
Anyhow, in Pakistan history there was another coup by army officers just like 1999 coup. Even after that coup, army officers who staged the ‘coup’ put someone who did not head the coup nor was involved in coup as Chief Martial law administrator, with one difference that in 1999 coup, the one they made CMLA (or chief executive) was a military man while in earlier coup it was civilian. That other similar coup happened was in December 1971, when army officer made CMLA who was a civilian.
In December 1971, army officers made a coup against government of ‘Yahya Khan’ (who was army chief too) and after successful coup, army officers put Traitor Bhutto as CMLA.
In 1999, after successful coup, army officers put Musharraf as chief executive of the country instead of civilian what happened in 1971.
Previously, General Iskander Mirza dismissed elected government of Feroz Khan Noon, imposed military rule, and appointed Ayub Khan as CMLA.
In all 3 above instances, the person who got into power did not do coup. but was made CMLA or Chief executive of the country by those who did the coup, twice the coup was done by army officers who were not army chief.
Ayub Khan by Major General Iskander Mirza who was president … and at the time Ayub Khan was army chief.
Whereas, Bhutto and Musharraf … was made to head the government by army officers who did the coup, but were not Army Chief.
