Lahore Shut Down

All eyes are on Lahore for 15th of December. This could be huge. Nawaz League is doing the right thing by being nervous.

But truth to be told, well done to Karachi administration (PPP or MQM- whatever) for not going the Nawaz League way, unleashing shooters on unarmed protesters, and killing innocent people. Just like Nawaz Sharif’s men, either of those parties could’ve taught PTI a ‘lesson’ for marching into their *territory (*or how the Nawaz League ministers say - ‘our city, our fort’). Given the usual violent atmosphere that surrounds Karachi, killing handful of 20 something youngsters in cold blood would’ve been a relatively routine like task there, and dare I say, an anticipated tragedy. So I’m genuinely surprised and extremely thankful that on the day of Friday, Karachiites did not pick up any dead bodies. I know a lot of people from other side of the line are highly disappointed, but that’s their misery.

I sincerely pray and hope that Lahore shut down remains non violent, and no innocent life is lost. Hopefully, Nawaz League will resist the temptation and not pull another Model Town massacre. But given their thuggery and open lusting for violence in Faislabad, I wouldn’t hold my breath. They clearly haven’t learned their lesson and considering Rana Sanaullah- a known thug who should be behind the bars for murder charges - is still their commander in chief. So anything is expected.

However, pressure’s on Nawaz League to not orchestrate another Model Town massacre. If Karachi shut down can remain non-violent, but Faisaladbad and Lahore produce innocent dead bodies (coupled with previous shooting incidents in Jehlum and Gujranwala by Nawaz League workers), would basically just prove that it is Nawaz League that likes to exercise institutionalised thuggery. They are the ones looking for dead bodies to scare and silence PTI.

Re: Lahore Shut Down

Lahore has played the role of shaping the political future of major parties in the past. Lets see how this all plays out.

All eyes are on Butts of lahore :stuck_out_tongue:

Here are the protest points:

Re: Lahore Shut Down

More damage to Pakistan by Imran and his team of looters. No respect for democracy or rule of law, using empty slogans to cause anarchy wherever they go.

Naive Pti followers do not care about Pakistan, Imran is more important to them.

Karachiites take little interest in PTI

Karachi Police Chief Abdul Qadir Thebo while supplementing to what the commissioner said, stated that PTI’s leadership attempted to shut even the emergency relief units besides preventing Police and Rangers to perform their duties. “On the directives of senior officials, police were not taking any action, yet to a limit,” said the police chief, reminding that PTI had been given free hand as per the current government’s commitment towards democracy.

Yeah , 15 December Lahore band ho ga to 16 December ko Chach AAK Niazi ki rawait poori ho gi

Re: Lahore Shut Down

Before this thread gets filled with automated stock replies saying how this shut down is illegal, it is anarchy blah blah blah. On the day of Karachi shut down, Lahore High Court was holding a hearing on petition to presumably cancel this shut down. I was prepared to hear a verdict in favour of that petition, to my utter surprise, the Court basically told police to get it's act right and make sure things don't spiral out of control, i.e no violence, no attacks on property etc.

Oh dear...

LAHORE. ..let me hear you roarrrrrrrrrr once more....

Re: Lahore Shut Down

So far we haven't heard Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, Talal Ch, Parvez Rasheed coming on TV and pledging to teach PTI a 'lesson' in Lahore, so already I'm getting a feeling the Lahore protest won't be as bad Faisalabad. That's a very good feeling. But, we still have a day and we haven't heard from Kh. Saad Rafque in a while.

Re: Lahore Shut Down

Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, Talal Ch, Parvez Rasheed are gonn a be in jail soon. :D

Re: Lahore Shut Down

Thank God for free media, every thing can now be found on the record, it was the likes of Rana Sanaullah and Saad Rafique (the latter in particular) who publicly vowed to teach TuQ a lesson, and prepare a 'welcome package' for Qadri (Kh. Saad's exact words), and lo and behold, Model Town massacre happens few days after those statements were uttered. 100 people get shot and 18 people lost their lives, and government became the most loathed entity in people's drawing rooms to on the streets.

Noon league really need to stop taking pride in their institutionalised thuggery. The way these ministers offered veiled threats and warnings to PTI prior to Faisalabad shut down, it was pretty apparent that had something in plan. But what they didn't realise and what they must be regretting quite profoundly is the fact that their thuggery made PTI discover a totally different side to itself. The side they secretly admitted that they don't necessarily have that is the ability of its supporters to look through the eyes of violence and hooliganism, and resist it upfront.

Really, Nawaz League thought they would unleash shooters early in the morning, and the 'Mummy Daddy' burger crowd of PTI would get terrified, intimidated and run away, leaving the party leadership looking lonely and stranded (an impression created during the Islamabad crackdown). However, if anything, due to senseless leashing of violence, PTI protesters grew in numbers and grew more resilient, became more daring and dangerous for their opponents without the presence of senior leadership. I don't think even PTI or its supporters expected to witness such resolute, and that too in opponent's den. Now it must be a moment of great shame and sense of failure for Nawaz league when they hear PTI confidently saying to them that don't try to push us on the edge this time, as we will resist every shove. Violence clearly isn't working to stop these people, now what should they do?

If they still need to persist with violence then they or their supporters need to provide answer to the question that what exactly has Noon League achieved from Faisalabad killings? Other than killing two innocent activists.

Re: Lahore Shut Down

In the Pakistani media, we keep hearing about “befitting response”. Aitzaz Ahsan was insulted by Nisar, and declared he would give a befitting response. When Indians fire at us, our Army declares it will give a “befitting response”.

**Now, when we know that massive rigging happened in the 2013, and the government refuses to allow fair investigations to take place, what is the befitting response to this fraud?

Here’s a hint:**

Re: Lahore Shut Down

Looks like PML-N gearing up strategy for tomorrow as well
Lights, camera, action: PML-N greenlights its anti-shutdown strategy

**ISLAMABAD: **The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has endorsed a novel plan to hire 200 cameramen for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s shutdown call of Lahore on December 15, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Sources close to the party said the Punjab government intends to deploy the cameramen to make footage of PTI protesters and use the recordings later as evidence against PTI workers ahead of the registration of FIRs. The cameramen have been hired from Sunday night to Monday night.

http://i1.tribune.com.pk/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/198.jpg

After applauding the idea, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif quickly approved it. Sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah Khan briefed the PM about the government’s troubleshooting strategy on December 15. They said the party is determined not to repeat its Faisalabad strategy here in Lahore.

The Punjab government has asked the business community to keep open their businesses for a part of the day and its hired cameramen will make videos of this. Later, the media sections of the Punjab government and federal government will air the recordings to show how Lahore was running smoothly. Traders of the city have reportedly been approached by PML-N’s Lahore President Malik Pervez, and have given him an assurance that they will open their markets early in the morning till 12pm. Traders will decide how long they will keep their shops open in view of the situation.

http://i1.tribune.com.pk/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/189.jpg

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif apprised the PM that in addition to the police, he has decided to deploy Punjab Rangers as well in order to give added protection to the city’s businessmen and to control PTI workers.

All PML-N lawmakers in the city have been asked to remain behind the scenes on December 15. In case PTI workers try to sow discord, they intend to point it out to the cameramen, and later support police in registering cases against them.
**
How to save the speaker**
The PML-N leadership has also devised its strategy on both talks with PTI as well as legal remedies for saving the seat of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, sources privy to the development told The Express Tribune.

About dialogue with PTI, the party’s negotiators led by Senator Ishaq Dar are not expected to budge from their earlier position. The ruling party has decided that it won’t accept any PTI demands which would help PTI in making doubtful the 2013 elections.

The sticking points are the definition of rigging, work plan, framework for the Judicial Commission (JC) and inclusion of retired judges or members of Military Intelligence and Inter Services Intelligence Agency. The ruling party is not expected to show any flexibility on these counts. The party will offer PTI the option of an inquiry on massive rigging in the general election, and that the commission should do work independently.

For the moment, PML-N officials believe that PTI has only exit strategy — that is through the joint commission. Despite that it is not ready to give Imran Khan any room for manoeuvring his way out.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Federal Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Imran wants to throw out all 272 MNAs from the National Assembly and nullify the entire 2013 polls “through his baseless allegations”.

He said that the joint commission will work under Pakistan Inquiry Act 1956 and will probe allegations of rigging. He also claimed that since Imran’s Faisalabad and Karachi shutdown calls have “flopped”, his options are increasingly limited.
**
Trump in danger**
Party sources said that the PML-N leadership has sought detailed briefings on Ayaz Sadiq’s case as he is the NA speaker and the party does not want him to lose his seat at any cost. The sources confirmed that the ruling party’s leadership has decided that neither the Punjab government nor the federal government would openly assist Sadiq but would continue its work through backdoor channels. They have asked Sadiq to avail all legal remedies and to contest his case like a game of chess.

Sources said that Sadiq has offered firm guarantees that there is no chance of finding any evidence of rigging if bags are opened in the coming days.

However, he expressed fears that there might be some missing ballot bags of NA-122, leading to the possibility of the commissioner declaring the records doubtful.

Re: Lahore Shut Down

PMLN would be deploying cameramen tomorrow to keep an eye on the protesters and they can use the clips as propaganda for their next videos against Imran I guess. :)

Re: Lahore Shut Down

PTI dharna team is back with full of enthusiasm and energy to post 24/7 in this thread. :)

If Lahore is shut, Nawaz should seriously think of resigning and announce mid-term elections schedule and caretaker government accepted to IK to avoid further chaos and disturbance in the country. He should not rant about rule of law and democracy because he became PM through highly rigged elections of 2013.

Advice to NS and PML(N) followeres :avoid ghundagardi and killings at any cost.
