Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

It is being promoted as a Turkish project but there is no info on internet about how much Turkey is involved in this project. Did they provide any financial help?
Is there any coverage in Turkish media of this project?

The only information i could find is the following: Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas announced a gift of 100 buses and inaugurated the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

unfortunately it is very easy to find blah blah about Pakistan but it is hard to find any useful info.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

Can't believe Pakistan can't even make their own busses in 2013... so sad. And I don't mean the Paindu bus, i mean proper air conditioned buses such as the Metro Bus.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

abhay yaar what BS

we need turkey to help us with the bus system??

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

If you haven't designed something in the country, ever, you definitely need help from those who have. Imagine Ghulam Ahmed Bilour extending help to Punjab Government for design and operations of transport systems.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

this is the reason i'm asking about their extent of involvement.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey’s involvement

The project has been modeled on Istanbul Metro Bus service and the Turkish company involved in the design of that system did the same for Lahore service and would also operate it. There is a claim that buses have been provided by the Turkish government free of cost, but that cannot be confirmed. Not a lot if available on through credible sources on internet though.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey’s involvement

pakistan needs a right to information act like india…

BTW have they developed rapid transit system for metro buses?

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

Yes, but we don't do much with the information we have. As many as 75% of members of parliament do not pay any taxes, for example. This is common knowledge.

Yes, hopefully it is a rapid transit system, as long as our railways minister does not interfere with it.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey’s involvement

Pakistani people will ruin these busses, they’ll break the seats rip out the tv and make it look like the hideous paindu busses with those obnixous parandas and kumkumay and weird urdu poetry and paintings of eyes and lady arms. Super weird.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

The problem is more about attitudes of people about the information. People are hardly interested in knowing facts and figures like how many people are estimated to travel, economic benefits etc. Instead they are only interested in seeing how good it looks in pictures and who is attending the opening ceremony.

Even if the info is published somewhere, very few people have interest in reading and sharing it so all we see is the chichora pan linked with the project that is circulating the internet.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey’s involvement

Haan tum pakistani nahin barri farangi banti hai! :hoonh:

Btw no hatin’ on the bus art. At least we are famous for some thing.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

Turkey is everywhere ..on roads on TV in our hearts :p

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

On a serious note ...I think such buses are more a need of Karachiites than anyone else around Pakistan.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey's involvement

Karachi had Circular Train Network. revive that! :)

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey’s involvement

Whenever buses are on the Pakistani news it is about protesters burning them, terrorists blowing them up, school kids dying from them falling off mountains …

Perhaps the Turks reckoned with all those bus losses there will be a shortage … :hehe:

No seriously, this may be a sign for more future investment … Lots of students and professionals from Pakistan are going to Turkey these days.

Re: Lahore Metro Bus and Turkey’s involvement

We produce some of the best engineers in the world. We have some awesome engineering schools in Pakistan.

Maybe if politicians quit condoning and promoting street violence and fighting proxy gang wars that unnecessarily kill people and stop doing “strikes” where honest businessmen have no interest in even striking, then maybe we would retain our brains and Pakistan wouldn’t have to borrow buses from turkey, water and electricity from India, and maybe might retain ownership over its own land as oppose to selling it off to Arabs who want our farmland.
