Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

Have a look at this protest by a political party. I think having the right to speak your mind is important but if you are a freakin retard then you shouldnt even have the right to use your mind. What the hell has a marathon got to do with religion. It is actually good for the society and is extremely beneficial in the sense that it fosters a healthy spirit, promotes atheleticism and has economical benefits by bringing in tourists. Didnt prophet mohammad enjoy swimming and excercise. Some people just piss me off so badly that i feel like calling US for another air strike.

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

Are your views based on just one picture alone, or do u actually know the story behind their protests?

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

please enlighten me

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

Women also took part in the marathon. They wore t-shirts or sleeveless shirts, with shorts. Did Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) also enjoy this?

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

^ if some one wants to do it. they should have the right to do it :-p

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

So, what is wrong with protesting? Afterall, Pakistan was made for Muslims, hence the name Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

nothing wrong with expressing their views as long as they dont show they "mullah-gerri"

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

The female marathon runners are inspiring the younger girls to dress up like them, and run around. It negatively impacts the Muslim society which comprises over 97% of the total population of Pakistan.

& For ur kind information, the definition of Mullah, according to hadees is 'a friend of Allah', so please refrain from twisting the words of the hadees', with the intention of meaning something else. There is a wide variety of other words available. This new slang definition is created by the West, along with words such as 'Jihad' which is the Arabic word for 'struggle'.

Are you for real? If those younger girls are inspired by the dress of runners, then it’s nobody’s fault, but their own. What about television? Would you want to ban all sporting event shows because women are dressed a certain way? Better yet, let’s ban the Olympics on Pakistani TV.

I don’t see how any athletic event can negatively impact any society.

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: “NO Marathon in a muslim country”?!

Anything that goes against the teachings of modesty and restraint from Allah and His Prophet Muhammad :saw: cannot be healthy and beneficial in any respect. I think that is one of the fundamentals of Islam and there shouldn’t be any confusion over that.

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

Protesting is fine and should be encouraged and supported. It shows that Pakistan is strong enough to tolerate dissent.

What is wrong is how the MMA is preparing to use force to disrupt the race. Using force to enforce your religious view on others is a very slippery slope in a country like Pakistan where many different fiqhs and schools of Muslims exist. You cannot have a situation where anyone is free to use force to change the way someone acts, because then everyone will be trying to force each other to do things differently and chaos will result.

So therefore, I hope anyone who tries to break the law when the race happens gets tear-gassed and lathi charged.

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

I say open up porn channels in Pakistan...If someone is going to be influenced by them, whose fault is it? it's good family fun and wholesome...And, it's everyone's right to watch porn...

Legalize gambling...Heck with Mullahs and their Mullah giri...It's good revenue, good income and great for tourists...

Legalize drugs...After all, if you cannot cope with your problems of being a Muslim, having ghairat and having your daughters and sons influenced by the legalized porn channels, what better way to drown your sorrows than in a Sifli full of great charas...

The name doesn't make anything Islamic...If my name is Abdul Wahab, who says I can't drink? Watch porn? Drink? What's in a name?

What in Islamic Republic of Pakistan? It's just name....What is Islam? It's just a religion...What is being a Muslim? It's nothing...

We should enjoy, live our life and die...That is the purpose of existence...Allah Shmallah, who cares? As long as we have a good time, enjoy the good times, everything's cool...

So, let the races begin, let the women of our country be dressed as they please, short skirts for tennis, leotards for gymnastics...truly, then we'd be very succesful...

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

Just brilliant! Compare drugs, gambling, and porn to a genuine athletic event. Way to go.

By the way Lajawab, I totally agree with you, all those things you mentioned should be opened to society. Let people face the consequences of their own actions.

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: “NO Marathon in a muslim country”?!

^ my point exactly :k:

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: “NO Marathon in a muslim country”?!

Absolutely ridiculous Fret…

You tell me honestly…Prostitution, drinking, gambling, drugs, decadence were all around at the time of the Holy Prophet :saw:…Why were they stopped and banned in Islamic nations for more than 900 years? Wasn’t that the time that Muslims were superior in every way?

Don’t think as a person, think as a Muslim…If you are a believer then there is a reason you were given Islam and its Laws…It’s cetainly not to shun them it is to apply them to your life…What good is a Muslim if he doesn’t apply Allah :swt:'s Laws in his life?

If allowing people to face the consequences of their own actions, then everything our parents teach us, out elders teach us, our faith teaches us, is of no consequence…Why teach them? Why bother…Let everyone face the consequences of their own actions…

You will tell me, oh, it’s just a marathon, well, it may be a marathon, with women bouncing and men running along side by side…And the way some mod-Muslim women, the way they dress is ludicrous…It’s just inviting temptation to do something wrong…

As for porn, gambling and stuff that is all just a logical progression…You know what progression is, right? It’s going from one point on to the next advanced level and so on…

So don’t take this lightly brother…Everything has a solution and if women want to run, there are hundreds of ways they can do that…

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: “NO Marathon in a muslim country”?!

Are you implying that the prevention tactic for people becoming drunks, prostitutes and porn addicts is to ban althleticism?

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: "NO Marathon in a muslim country"?!

Why ban athleticism? There are plenty of methods to do this, without causing problems. One being, proper dress code.

Re: Lahore Marathon 2006: “NO Marathon in a muslim country”?!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think women can run in a burqa.
