I can’t believe that after such a humiliating performance there are people who want to establish Pakistani cricket team on the basis of their birth. :nook: It is such a shame that people like Sarfaraz Nawaz is saying something like that. I thought he might have been suggesting something good for the team on the basis of his experience but this kind of mentality wouldn’t take Pakistani team anywhere.
ISLAMABAD, March 19: Former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz says he has some suggestions to submit to Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
“Since the President of Pakistan, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of PCB, has given indefinite extension to PCB Chairman, I will submit my suggestions for the betterment of cricket and in the best national interests in a meeting with him (PCB chief) in the near future,” Sarfraz said on Wednesday.
Sarfraz also named the players who should be selected for the Sharjah Cup in the aftermath of World Cup fiasco but disagreed with the choice of manager for the tour.
**“It would have been better if Azhar Zaidi, instead of Haroon Rashid, had been appointed as manager,” Sarfraz said. “I think it would have been advisable if one official (Azhar Zaidi as manager) had been taken from Lahore.”
In the present case, he said, all the three posts of manager (Haroon Rashid), coach (Javed Miandad) and captain (Rashid Latif) are from Karachi. **“Already, Azhar Zaidi as manager and Miandad as coach have been together on five-six tours and the combination has worked well in the past.”
The likely Pakistan team for Sharjah as formulated by Sarfraz comprised: Imran Nazir, Taufiq Umar, Saleem Elahi, Yousuf Youhana, Younis Khan, Faisal Iqbal, Misbah-ul-Haq,Yasir Hameed, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, Abdur Rauf, Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan, Abdul Razzaq and Junaid Zia, Rashid Latif and Shoaib Malik as lone spinner since Saqlain Mushtaq is unavailable.
About the selection of Junaid Zia, he said the youngster has given a good account of himself in the junior World Cup and is a promising, upcoming allrounder. “He is young and has also been giving good performances in domestic first class cricket while playing for Rawalpindi.”-APP
. With due respect to Mr. Sarfaraj Nawaj’s cricketing skills I think his comments dont deserve any attention. I would rather read the comments of his Chachera Bhai in India ‘Bishen Singh Bedi’
