^ So what other priorities should the Lahore High Court have? They got this petition filed by someone who deemed the songs were vulgar, and they passed a ruling. Why is there a problem? I am forced to say this but the only people who would have problems with this legitimate ruling by the court are the ones that really dont want any Islam in Pakistan, because otherwise, theres absolutely nothing wrong with 'how' the court came up with the ruling.
This is what courts are for. I see no problems with this judgement. If someone has a problem, they have the right to appeal.
On a personal note, those mujras that popped up over the last few years along with comedy stage dramas are tasteless and vulgar and should be banned.
I dont disagree. It was not meant to be a sarcastic comment.
Once I saw the lyrics and understood the issue I agreed that they have priorities in order because we do need control of these things, as well as the going ons in shahi mohalla. and it has to be legal system that has to do this
even in US the parental advisory labels on music was somethign that was decided at a very high level.
I am glad they are doing what they need to do, had it been done by a lower court it would have been challenged and wound up in high court anyways, so might as well do it there.
What do you expect from women who most likely are brought up in vulgar environment.
We had a thread about 'kanjar' families' ( a banned TV program) and in that documnetary openly many of singers were mentioned to be from red light areas and making their way to mainstream media for general audience entertainment.
A lot of them did not sing vurlgar openly but there will always be some who will go for it for more money at the expense of losing their names in good books.
At last some one took notice,.... i really like her voice and enjoy listening her songs, but some of her "mujra-songs" are way to vulgar you can't even listen them with any family member.
For Example, songs like these.. i mean wtf..is this poetry????
doodh pyar wala pey ley.... lagna aey kamzoor..
phendi hey barsaat vey..... na javein aaj raat vey...
Wey Gujjara Wey.... doodh peetey ney kachey ..
and last but not least..
mangi wich daang phairdaa ... & kundi na khirka seedha under aaaah..
may be they are about breastmilk but i am not sure. A mom singing song for his weak baby . I saw the video on youtube and this big fat lady is singin this song about milk and she has a revealing dress...and she puts a lot of stress on her top as she lip sync doodh pyar wala......which strengthens my understanding of this poetry..indeed its bout bmilk!
“Jiddah yaar juda ho jaaway, odhee neend udd-pudd jaawey” (one whose yaar or husband goes away, she must have been having hard time getting sleep) is really very very vulgar. Plus there are lot of stage mujras in Lahore where dancers show a lot of skin. If they could dance in complete hijaab, it is still okay although dance and music are haraam in Islam. Kudos to Lahore high court for making the right call :k:

There is a perfectly good explanation for all of the above:
"doodh pyar wala pey ley.... lagna aey kamzoor" Milk...It does a body good. Everyone knows that.
"phendi hey barsaat vey..... na javein aaj raat vey..." She doesn't want him to catch a cold or worse a pneumonia. Her concern for him cannot be placed against her.
"Wey Gujjara Wey.... doodh peetey ney kachey" See #1 plus milk is especially needed for gujjars.
"mangi wich daang phairdaa" The guy is blind hence the walking stick.
"kundi na khirka seedha under aaaah" She was probably up half the night with the baby and doesn't want him to make a rattling sound when he returns from working the night shift.

I don't know what the big deal is.
Hain jee??? It's not the lyrics but the combination of words and things they make people think are the problems..
as spock said what else was the high court supposed to do? there was a petition signed by people, they took it through normal procedures. what an idiotic argument is"dont they have anything important to do". Some people will just criticise for the sake of it, does it hurt you when high court does anything at all?

Ditto!!
If courts continue to solve these so-called "Smaller" issues, than the foundation to fix the bigger will be set... not any MAJOR issue can be resolved in day or two, but smaller can be!!! so lets solve what can be solved...
But some people consider it their right to criticize Pakistan... most of them lives out of Pakistan others lives on the money comes from OUT of Pakistan, please stay out, let us solve the issues and then you can be here on vacations.. till then, select some other country for ur vacations
What if Cable Providers don't have these vulgar things to show!!! ever given a thought to it???
Sir just watch some cable tv in LHE, ISB/RWP, KHI etc. after midnight hours and u'll realize what i mean or ask someone to do it for u and he testify what the content is
X-TV subscriptions cards r freely available on Hallroad in those sat-electronics retailer shops ..... just watch the internet forums/boards where sat-tv (esp. pay-tv) is discussed and note how many thousand queries r from Pakistan asking for methods to watch certain TV channels
The thing that matters most if not all is the mind ..... if one makes up his mind to get access to certain mediums then he/she will
If Her songs r banned then so should be all the sat-retailers + cable providers (with questionable content) coz they r way too worse
