Lahore guppies

anyone going to minar e pakistan on sunday the 30th?

Re: Lahore guppies

I have a couple of friends who are very enthusiastic about the whole PTI jalsa in Lahore. And I have heard a lot uni, colleges students etc are going to be there. Hope it’s a success IA.

I met Imran Khan recently at his book launch and PTI fundraising dinner here in Manchester. It was a great experience and after hearing this guy speak for about good 2 hours, am pretty much convinced he has a vision to change the political system of Pakistan and most importantly to wipe out corruption.

So am all in for PTI now :halo:

Am just hoping they allow overseas Pakistanis to vote in the coming elections.

Re: Lahore guppies

nope

Re: Lahore guppies

He has a vision but I am afraid he lacks support for enough penetration. Hope I am proved wrong.

Re: Lahore guppies

I am not going.......although i will vote for him......like i did in by-election.... and interestingly N-League won the election by just a fraction.

Re: Lahore guppies

yes that's the only issue. But at least he is getting increased support now. Far more than the last elections which is a positive sign.

I wonder why doesn't our population just get out of the familial and candidate based politics and vote for ppl who are genuinely trying to do something

:(

Re: Lahore guppies

Lack of education........ and preference for short-cuts........they will vote for the guy who is likely to help them out directly you know...hamaara kaaam karwa de]....... they don't bother to vote for people who would change the system and all......... basically its jahaalat.

Re: Lahore guppies

Peace Enigmatic and Seb

Times are changing ... we are getting enough influence as expat desis or west born Pakistanis to create a stir ... I'm gonna try to issue a bit of influence on my family in Pakistan

Re: Lahore guppies

I dont think Pakistani awam is ready for change although I am seeing awaking from some corners but we are still couple of elections away from real change (i.e change in which they reject tried, tested and failed ones) --- I believe thats the ground reality.

Re: Lahore guppies

I know lots of people who are going.

Re: Lahore guppies

my family is voting for imran khan & pti. he is the only reason all of us got registered for voting this time!

Re: Lahore guppies

imran khan zinda baad

Re: Lahore guppies

I may well decide to go. But gonna vote for him definitely.

He wont win next election in all likelihood but he will gain increased visibility. Baby steps.

Re: Lahore guppies

No but this time he's creating a stir. This uncle I knows who is a well known ophthalmologist in Lahore but he was the most cynical person around in terms of Politics and was always of the opinion that nothing would change etc etc (He was also a sole PML-N supporter for ages.)

Yesterday hubs tells me that he's been the one who has got PTI T-shirts for all his staff at his clinic as well as the junior doctors and is taking them to Minar-e-Pakistan on the 30th. I was like WOW :p

Re: Lahore guppies

Yes he has created a stir. No doubt. But it wont be a storm. As long as silent majority (expats and youth) stays indoor. People are coming out slowly but surely. Lets see for how long does that happen. But I will agree to one thing. The youth is motivated like never before. I just hope it is motivated enough.

and wow about that uncle story! :k:

Re: Lahore guppies

I fear that too. Lets see what coming months prove.

Re: Lahore guppies

PML-N in the past were meant to be strategic votes - King Makers - according to an article that was pasted here ... In a similar vein if PTI can replace them then it won't be ideal to get a minority where they will have to side with another party to get a clear majority but they will get some visibility ... I think PTI may get enough votes to be king makers - they will eventually have to choose who to side with if there is a hung election.

The fact is that PTI are just so different ... I fear that they will be branded as "the same old mob" if they eventually have to side with a bigger party to create a coalition.

Re: Lahore guppies

Im going with my cousin :jhanda:

Re: Lahore guppies

oooooooooo Don't ask. I am very much excited to join the jalsa I wish I could :( my brother is extremely enthusiastic about it, he will be there with his friends. I think the whole youth in lahore is with PTI. my family is not allowing me to join the crowd :( am so so so so sad. If I go there then it would be my first ever experience to go at any rally, and if I won't be able to join then I will sit and watch the whole jalsa live (if our media will be enough cooperated). This time I will cast my vote for PTI for sure. My best wishes are with Imran Khan.

Re: Lahore guppies

Imran Khan is the last "states man" standing between Dream and Despair, hope and hopelessness, political stability and chaos, management and mismanagement, state independence and foreign slavery.

I wish him success for I wish to see Pakistan a great success in the community of civilized and independent countries.
