I came to know that the Lahore was founded by ‘Loh’ or ‘Lava’, the son of ‘Rama’ the Hero of the Sanskrit epic of Ramayan, or Ramayana.

There is a belief about what you mentioned, but the city got prominence only after Ghaznavis raid and then coming of Data Sahib to the city. The city really flourished during that era and accordingly know as 'Data ki nagri' for centuries.

this is not true. lahore was the capital of punjabi kings/ kabuli shahis/hindu shahis like jayapala janjua shahi, his son anandpala. these were kings who ruled side by side with the ghaznavids, and had their empire extend over the kabul valley to the eastern end of punjab, and lahore was the important capital of this agriculturally prosperous region. jayapala ruled out of lahore while mahmud ghaznavi's father sebuk tegin was slowly making his way out of what is now kyrgyzstan. it really is funny how little pakistanis know of their own people and kings and places.

At the period of the first Muslim conquests, Lahore was in possession of a Chauhan prince, of the family of Ajmer. Whether owing to change of dynasty, or to Lahore’s exposed position on the high road from Afghanistan to India, it was subsequently deserted and the seat of the government was removed to Sialkot or its vicinity, where it remained until the period of the conquests of Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi in the beginning of the eleventh century; that the conqueror re-occupied the deserted city, and established a garrison in a fort, which was built possibly, like the Old Fort at Delhi, on the ruin of the old Rajput stronghold.
