Just out of curiosity I just want to know which are the wealthy neighborhoods of Lahore, I understand Johar Town, Garden Town, New Garden Town, Defence, and Gulberg are really high end suburbs what are the differences between the places, which is the “best”? Just interested…If you can put on a 1-5 scale (with the best area as number one)…which is the best in terms of shopping, safety, modern atmosphere, house architecture etc…thanks.

As a Lahori
To me Gulberg is the best living place in whole of Lahore .......It has lots of shopping areas including Pace,Liberty,Whole Of MM Alam Road,Hafeez Center and many more and plus the atmosphere is great too
But if ae looking for a securable location then Cantt is the best......and for Architecture Badshahi Mosque,Shahi Qila is the best area to visit

I think Defence is good especially for people moving from abroad. Its good for everyday shopping too. Although Gulberg is great, it is becoming too comercial and the traffic around it is sometimes unbearable. So its excellent for shopping and dining but maybe not somewhere to settle. Bahria town is supposed to be good but I dont know it myself.

I would go for either Defense or Cantonment. Both great places to live. Defense is better developed with plenty of conveniently located schools, shopping malls, parks etc., has more hustle & bustle, and has more of a modern feel to it. Cantt is not bad either but not many private schools or shopping areas. However, it is more peaceful & quiet. I live in Cantt. myself and would like to continue doing so iA.
Rest of all the areas you mention, are too over-crowded now. To be honest, all of the city is over-crowded now, barring may be Cantt, but Johar Town, Garden Town etc. are not properly maintained as they fall under Lahore municipality, and not other authorities like DHA, Cantt Board etc.
Bahria Town seems good from what I have heard but haven't experienced myself. Some housing schemes carrying the name 'Eden' are also good.

Gulberg may be attractive for shopping but it's not livable anymore. There is a school, plaza or office in nearly every street of Gulberg.
The best places to buy a house in Lahore are the small societies in suburbs including new phases of Defence. If you want security, only go for gated housing societies.

FYI DHA is only a housing community in CANTT. Also GULBERG is an area in CANTT. So if you want high end area in Lahore, it is CANTT.

^ Huh!! where did you get that from ? Gulberg ever since I have known never been part of Cantt, Anyways personally I love defence Z block (My mamoo live literally 5 minutes walk from Hardees, HEAVEN) and Askari 9-10, Gulberg and liberty are great for shopping and restaurant but as someone already mentioned it has become too commercial and making your way in that traffic is a MISSION at busy times
