Lagaan to be India’s entry at the Oscars

A 14-member jury of the Film Federation of India has voted for Lagaan to be India’s official entry at the 2002 Oscars, the annual awards function of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
“It was a unanimous decision,” said actress and producer Sushma Shiromanee. “It’s a film that reflects Indian values and culture. This is our best bet. There was no controversy and every member voted for Lagaan.”
Vikas Mohan, producer and editor of trade magazine Super Cinema, agreed. “Although we did watch all the 12 films, we shortlisted three – Monsoon Wedding, Asoka and Lagaan,” he said. “And we chose Lagaan because it was a complete Indian film made with a lot of dedication.”
On a more sombre note, he added, “It is time for us to pull up our socks. We are hiring a marketing agency to promote our film and re-releasing it in the mainline theatres of America. We also plan to participate in the Golden Globe French Awards and the Sundance Festival.”

I still say Gadar was a much better movie. And dont you dare call me a racist or a Hindu bigot... just like I haven't asked you to go to Paki-land (where u obviously belong) yet.

what other rhetoric can be expected from people who treat their own co religionist worst than animals because they belong to lower caste . you are a classic hindu pandit on prowl
Kabir,
I have great respect for Indian Muslims and I have countless Muslim friends . One thing common in them is that they are "Indian" first and "Muslim" second.
You obviously dont fall in that category. Your attitude is more in sync with your brethern across the border.Dont you ever be under the illusion that you represent Indian Muslims (assuming ofcourse that you are an Indian and not a Pak stooge)? People like you who use this forum to bring domestic Indian issues to the Pakis for no other reason but to show India in a poor light dont deserve to be called "Indians" in the first place. Its people like you who make it easy for me to accept Bal Thackeray's generalizations of certain categories of Indian Muslims as "anti-nationals".Its people like you who serve as fodder to the existence of Shiv Sena and RSS. You can pour as much venom as you like on Hinduism.. I wouldn't care less... because I am not a "Hindu", I am an "INDIAN"... and proud to be one....
Get it once and for all......
