.
“All our efforts have paid as the film has gone down well,” Aamir said and thanked the director Ashutosh Gowarikar for teaming up with him during the campaign in the US.
He said a French film Amilie is among other films, which is competing for honours for the Oscars.
Khan dismissed suggestions that in his craze for the coveted Oscar award, he has been neglecting or showing disrespect to any Indian award. “The National Award is something I hold close to my heart and at any point of time if honoured I will accept with all humility,” he said.
Aamir also refused to term Lagaan as a patriotic film, saying more than anything else it portrays the triumph of human spirit.
The comic book on the film story captures the complete essence of the movie through caricatures with text based on the film’s dialogues. Aamir Khan said the idea of doing a comic had excited the film unit even prior to the commencement of the shooting. “Both Ashutosh and I were actually more excited about a comic on the characters than doing a film,” said Aamir.
According to Aamir doing an animation film based on Lagaan was not ruled out. (PTI)
