Ok, so this is a general question for all you married ladies out there.
After Marriage and/or kids, how do you find the time to pursue your interests & hobbies which are not directly related to your household and daily life?
For example cooking, decorating, arts & crafts, dress designing, etc. are kind of things one expects a female to be interested in, they are kind of ghareloo shoq you know, nobody would object to you pursuing those, or taking out time to do that stuff.
I would like to hear from ladies who have had unusual hobbies (For example, I was a hard core gamer, I used to play strategy games on my PC 4-5 hours a day).
Did you give up on your hobby? Or do you still take out time to pursue your interests, how?
Re: Ladies: Pursuing your hobbies/interests after Marriage
what about fulfilling further studies? how hard is it if both husband and wife are studying? he wnats to do a phd and i want to do my acca? is tht realistically possible?
Re: Ladies: Pursuing your hobbies/interests after Marriage
It depends on how you do it and if there are children involved.
If both of you have the same schedule, it might work out. If not, one person may wait around more then the other and get irritated because they want to spend time with their spouse...understandable too.
Re: Ladies: Pursuing your hobbies/interests after Marriage
yeah, i think both of us will be relatively busy, i really hope i can complete my studying with him coz i know it'll take alot of time out of him so dont wna sit around twiddling my thumbs =( what to doooooooooo
Re: Ladies: Pursuing your hobbies/interests after Marriage
Now why are most of the threads women-oriented ? you could have left the "ladies" part.
Nevertheless, given my predisposition to poke my nose everywhere these days, I would like say that I hope that I do get time to watch TV series after marriage. I am really addicted to em :)

MIAinVA - I am/was a gamer too and a very hardcore one at that. 5 hours would have just been a warm up :)
I had loads of other hobbies as a teenager too. Getting older things were naturally given up anyway. I was always sad to think I might not one day have time for gaming though and yea it'd be great to have more hours in the day. But I'm enjoying whatever else I do too.
I'm lucky in that my husband enjoys the same things I do (even though we didn't know it straight away). We play games together when we have time. I don't think you need to give it up but things like this will take a back seat whether you want them to or not.
Oh.. and reading what snowy said.. we enjoy watching the same stuff - House, Lost, Heroes so we'd always try to watch them together.

I was a full time gamer too! yep.. 4-5 hours daily wihtout fail... until I got married! After that I never had time for gaming....
I watched my lovely soaps everyday... but now, I have to collect all the episodes online n wait for a time dat he leaves home so that I can have enough time to watch all the episodes in one go!!
I used to facebook every hour... now hardly once a day...
I used to chat with my buddies online for hours n hours... n for the past two months, I haven't had a chat with my best pal even once!!
I used to solve sudoku puzzles... aaaahhh i miss them so much!
Sorry... no ghaireloo shauq :(
But I love cooking and this is the only thing which I can still do... but can't really enjoy coz hubby dear have different taste and I have to change my cooking style for his sake.... so may be with time we both will get adjusted to however I cook :P
So many things change after marriage... its for good anyway.... I don't mind missing out on all those activities.... after all I have a home to take care of all myself :)
Maybe you can do hard-core gaming with your husband.
On the computer.
Or not on the computer. Whatever.
Excuse me? Shows how limited a person's vocabulary is and how limited/dirty one's mind is, such an immature post... afsos ho raha hai mujhe, I thought this forum had educated people on it.

Lucky you, I had to give them up initially cuz my husband said "Kids play video games, pagal ho kiya" and he laughed at me and that made me so mad at that time lol.
Anyways, after 5 years of marriage, I'm getting back into gaming yaayyy...... got him a Wii which is gathering dust, since he's definitely not into it. And I have my portable Nintendo DS :p so happy about it. I miss the PC games though, I miss playing Civilization, Caeaser, Monkey Island, Age of Empires....... awesome games.
Did you play Strategy too, cuz those would definitely involve 4-5 hours as warm-up :)

Hehe, well his parents say that to us and think we're still kids because of our hobbies. Which is amusing as we're both very mature and always have been (especially me since I'm the eldest of 6). I'm doing a PhD with industry sponsorship and he's almost finished his MBBS, so yeh, kids we ain't.
He's lovely - he mainly likes violent games (FPS's) but I also like my RPG and action-adventure games so he's learnt to appreciate them for me. We take turns to complete one-player games, it turns into a competition to see who can do the hard parts :)
He also carries my camera and lenses around when we go out :D so I can keep up with that hobby of mine too.
I'm not a huge fan of strategy, I played some strat games. But I can easily spend 12 hours on a RPG or any game really as I* have *to complete them.
