I have heard many people say that we should drink warm water, dont take a bath, use warm water in wash room, have nothing cold to eat etc etc. during those days.
Why do people avoid all these things during their periods? What kind of a difference do they make? WHat do you girls avoid?

I've heard those things as well (don't take a bath....don't eat cold things).
I don't know if they have any bearing on your period...I haven't felt any. I don't follow any such restrictions. I take warm showers and I eat cold things. NO adverse side effects so far, AH. The only "changes" I'll try to make is to take a multivitamin that contains iron...and I'll try to eat healthier.
it depends on each woaman and her body indivually. I don't follow any of these things too, but I have to avoid full body shower for atleast 2 days, if I take shower in first 2 days, my periods stop completely, and thats how it has been since I started getting my periods.
My mom is very perticular about cleanliness during that time, but she started noticing this trend she asked me to avoid showers. So I wash my hair, use sponge bath etc to keep fresh.
I consulted my doctor about it few years ago but she said it might be psycological, lakin she said if your period stop completely it is not good for your internal health, so might as well listen to the body and work with whatever it needs.
i avoid exercising my abs, so no situps etc that week. Running etc is as normal, although after the pain of the first few days. Warm drinks help the pain for me.
I read something regarding thing which explained in biological terms how cold things sometimes harmed you within those days but last 3 days se I am searching for what exactly oit was but:no: No luck.

I have a heavy first day and second is light and third/fourth day they stop and fifth day they are light again. Thats how they have always been. I dont understand do they stop because i have cold food and also take a bath those days? Also - i too have heard that many complications during conceiving, pregnancy and delivery are because girls do not take proper care during periods and do not let their bodies be completely clean?
i used to get told not to have a bath during periods either - but how can you not have a bath?! also having a warm bath is soothing for period pains i reckon.
like others are saying, i would just get on with my life as norm'.
erm... blood does not stop if u are swimming or are sitting a bathtub with water upto ure chin. sick... unless u have a tampon stuck up u, you would be asked to leave teh pool if u were having ure period ... this one girl was on our swim team and she walks in with a pad thinking that would hold... eediot.. it was her first day and had a heavy flow... rooh afza bangaya tha paani!
