Ladies lunch party ideas

My friend’s mom is leaving, and I need some quick ideas for lunch party. I have a eight month old baby also, so I need some ideas where I can cook a night before. It’s for 10 adults. Please help, I am totally out.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

are you going for desi or non-desi?

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

I want to go desi but really light food, usuly ladies don’t eat much in lunch time.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

make a dry roast, a veg raaita, and rice.

or just go with pulao and raaita.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

How can I make it fancy, all ladies are super exited.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

chaat party perhaps

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

I have had many ladies lunches at my place, I have noticed, that non desi items were a big hit too like chicken pot pie, lasagna, etc. do have rice as most ladies love that, since rice will have to be cooked on the day itself, I would suggest doing peas pilou or zeera rice instead of full on biryani, unless you can handle it by pre cooking stuff the night before, otherwise zeera rice etc goes well with chicken curry that you can cook the night before. Qeema is also easy and can be done the night before, add capsicum to it esp the colored variety and you are good to go.

I have done a ladies lunch with hawla puri theme. Made dum qeema, cholay, peshawari chicken karhai, raita and hawla.
Hawla and pooris were done on the day itself. Make puris before guests come between wax paper and fry them when guests come

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

Automne last time my other friend did halwa poori theme, eastern share some non desi items.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

Uz, I’m having some mom friends of mine over for lunch in a couple of weeks to celebrate the kids going back to school. I’m doing an Asian themed menu, and since it’s still so hot here, I want to keep the menu light and refreshing. Here’s what I’m planning:

Sesame Noodles w/Chicken and Peanut Sauce (I make this a lot, it’s always a huge hit!)

Sesame Noodles with Chicken Recipe : Food Network Kitchen : Food Network

Spicy Shrimp Lettuce Cups

Spicy Asian Shrimp Lettuce Cups recipe - from Tablespoon!

^^ Both of these recipes I’ve linked I’ve made numerous times, they are always well received

Gobi Manchurian (Shireen Anwar’s recipe)

Spring Rolls

Mini Crab Cakes

(for the crab cakes, I buy lump crab meat..I finely chop yellow/orange/red bell pepper, green onion, add Old Bay seafood seasoning, black pepper, bread crumbs..then in a small bowl whisk together one egg, some mayonnaise, a dollop of dijon mustard and pour it over the crab mixture…mix well and refridgerate. When you’re ready to make, melt a pat of butter and some olive oil in a nonstick skillet and form into bite size or a little larger cake/pucks and then fry until cooked through/nicely browned on all sides. you’ll work in batches. i drain them on a paper towel lined plate before arranging on a platter.)

For Dessert I’m just going to serve ice cream/sorbets or maybe make cold coffee.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

Chicken pot pie, lasagna, sandwiches, shrimp baskets (tiny salad shrimp mixed in with mayo and or sour cream and chives etc and put in ready made mini phyllo tarts) are all non desi.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

I love crab, however, a lot of desi ladies in my circle don’t eat seafood other than fish or shrimp so in my opinion these should not be served unless you know the crowd’s likes and dislikes well.

Which is why I’m serving them because I know my crowds likes and dislikes. I’m just sharing my menu, not forcing anyone to do the same.

Re: Ladies lunch party ideas

For desi , a super easy recipe is cream chicken . You add 6 onions in a blender, add in two tablespoons of ginger and two tablespoons of garlic, 6-7 green chillies, salt to taste, two tablespoons full garam masala. One cup water .. blend it to a fine paste .. then add this mixture in quarter cup oil. add boneless chicken pieces, one and a half cup cream.. mix and let it all cook covered on low heat. no stirring required , just blend and put everything in a pot. 40 minutes later , check the chicken is fully cooked and the oil is layering on the top. Heat up a coal piece , place it that chicken pot on a piece of bread or foil paper and add one tsp oil, cover the pot so the coal aroma gets into the chicken and gives it that BBQ taste . Done.

Do Dum keema with potatoes or peas

Do fish karahi , its super quick as well.

For non desi options, lasagna and pasta salad are the best. Serve them with chicken tikkas on skewers, takes just 10 mintues to get done. Serve with roasted potatoes
