Ladies! Let's get this straight...

Re: Ladies! Let's get this straight...

hahaaa!!!!

Re: Ladies! Let's get this straight...

its tex-us, NOT tex-ASS

Re: Ladies! Let's get this straight...

It's not "I think so I want to eat peas today." It is "I think I want to eat peas today."
It's not "what did you ate?" It's "what did you eat."

Some people pronounce it with a hard G (like in Gate), thus:

Geero/Gy-ro

Or some people pronounce it with a J, thus:

Jeero/Jyro

The correct way of pronouncing it is yeer-oh - with the Y being a very light guttural sound which will sound like a very soft G sound at the beginning, and then you roll the R.

Re: Ladies! Let's get this straight...

It's de-liv-ery NOT divilry

It's be-gin-ning NOT bigning

It's proposal NOT purposal

What is up with omitting the word "to"??????

"I'm going my home."

Re: Ladies! Let's get this straight...

"i did'nt knew it" is not correct in any version of english

"thanks god, it was a close one"

"did you get your hairs cut"

Re: Ladies! Let’s get this straight…

This thread is too good :omg:

Re: Ladies! Let's get this straight...

Ok, So Hermès (the French fashion house, not the Greek God) is not pronounced Her-meeeess.

The "accent grave" on the e (downward accent flick - è) is pronounced "eh". If there was an "accent aigu" on the e (upward accent flick - é) then it would be pronounced "ay".

"H" is silent in French, as is "S", if the S is at the end of the word, with some exceptions, this being one.

Therefore, Hermès is pronounced "air-maess", first syllable pronounced quickly, being a blend of "air" and "err", second syllable with a soft S.

Re: Ladies! Let's get this straight...

ITS RINSE not RAINSE (with a long I)

its POMEGRANATE not pomegranshate.

I can understand these mistaeks if u just moved to US, but freakin college educated people shouldn't be talking like this

Some of these mispronunciations are commonplace...while others seem to be just exclusive to people known to the poster alone.
Its not that bad.....though there are a few nuances which have become ghalat-ul-aam. Some of the above one's are too hilarious though.
Valet (pronounced as wallet) Parking is a recent one I heard from a colleague!

Ooo missed this one:

Etienne - Eh-tee-yaN (soft N at the end)
Aigner - On-yay

Ermenegildo - Air-men-ay-gil-doh (G pronounced like J)
Zegna - tsay-nya
