hey ladies well i have to discuss a issue here… my sister in law and me we both go to the gym and a walk in the evening now the issue is that she has really bad smelly feet and its really bad when we come home and she takes her shoes off and the smell is like all over the place..i mean i want to tell her in a way that she doesnt get offended as she is like my own sister and we are very close to each other not like typical sister in laws are..i have tried saying to her that i put powder on my feet before i walk do u think they are smelly but i dont think she got it… could u ladies please advice me on dis and also give me a solution to dis as im very worried…as im a clean freak and cant tolerate the smell

How about giving her a little gift basket of things that freshen her feet? Maybe she'll enjoy using the products and make it a habit. Probably a long shot, but worth a try.

You might want to plan to pamper yourselves after exercise and do foot soaks in scented water, etc. Again, maybe your sis in law will begin to enjoy pampering her feet and take it to the next level by using powder before exercise.

Is it possible that she can't smell that her feet are stinky?

thanks diva girl that is actually a very good idea.. well its very strange coz i doubt she cant smell dem im sure she can but duno whts she thinking i will surely try dis tom:)

I actually know some people that don't smell their own odors for some reason. That's why I asked.

If she has never said something like, "Phew! My feet sure smell" or wrinkled her nose when she took off her shoes or something to indicate that she's aware of the smell, then maybe she can't smell herself. Who knows.

If she can smell that they stink and she mentions it then it would be easier to discuss it with her.

just tell her? i tell my friends and shes your sister, im actually sure she would appreciate your honesty!

She should wash and dry her feet before gym and after gym it should solve the issue!

thanks girls im sure she cant smell tell coz i hav neva seen her complain...i am just so scared ov telling her anything as she is my sister in law and honestly im so scared ov my husband or any issue...coz i just always try to be the best wife and the best sister in law and oh lord i guess im just too stressed out ladies thanks for ur help

gift her 100% cotton socks. many times the smell is due to socks that are spandex/polyester blends.

tell her a story about a friend of a friend of urs that worked out and how her feet smelled so bad, and now she has athletes foot but she didnt take care of it.

stories are the best.

Oh you poor thing! You would think that she must be able to smell her own feet, if they are that bad! Hehe! I think you should nicely tell her the truth. Give her some tips to help her with her problem.

  • Adding a few drops of thyme essential oil to water and soaking feet daily for 15-20 mins, helps with foot odour.
  • Or soak feet in warm water, adding ½ cup of baking soda and a couple of drops of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil.
  • Tell her not to wear the same shoes two days in a row. One day, one pair of trainers, next day another pair of trainers!
  • Or she could carry an extra pair of socks and change them mid-way!
  • She could try rubbing talc or baby powder on her feet and inbetween the toes!

If the problem is really bad, go with her to see a Podiatrist. Good luck! :)

I would tell her but in a different way. I had a friend in high school who had a really bad body odor problem. People used to make fun of her and she never even knew. To top it all off, she was overweight so it was even easier to pick on her.

Anyway, one day I just took her to the girls' bathroom and spoke to her about it directly. I told her some people wrinkle their noses and make jokes or comments about her BO behind her back and it bothers me a lot when I see that. She had come here from India a couple of years ago and wasnt familiar with deodorant so I got her some. She started using that and a light body spray...problem solved.

Tell her you saw someone wrinkle their nose or make a face or something and just wanted her to be aware of it. Also, someone suggested cotton socks...those are an excellent idea as well as foot powder/spray.

No matter how much anyone uses perfume/powder, clean feet, clean socks and shoes are the solution.

She has to wear news socks everyday and somehow clean the shoes and place them in the sun to dry.

She may also have sinus problem. Read about anosmia also.
