lack of respect for other people's property

So I went to that desi oasis in chicago known as devon. parked my car and returmed only to find some jackass who could not park or pull out from a diagnoal parking spot had his car rub its nose on the left rear door of my car.

No note, no number..just a hit and run. I keep hearing this from people all the time.
actually saw someone take off after he realized he had hit some car.

Now this is not unique to desis. how many of us have seen unexplained dings on the doors of the car. I have become a bit cynical now and try to park next to a nice car rather than a junker, because i hope that a person with a brand new merc is careful with his/her car..of course I have no control on the fact that 5 mins after I park some idiot habloo can show up in his rustbucket and have his hombres slam their doors in my car when trying to get their illegal immigrant butts out of their car.

Would you not notice that you have damaged someone’s property and try to compensate for your action.

Funniest thing I heard was from one of the senior execs, he said that he is ruthless, will see a scratch, or a ding and measure the distance from the car next to his car..if teh colour and angle match he will key the other car up. Now I surely dont support that brand of auto-vigilantes but he does have a point.

Now if I take my car in to get the damn crease fixed it will be expensive, otherwise I have to call insurance, pay my deductible, probably affects my inrurance rate. meanwhile the idiot who did this gets off free.

unfair

I know just what you mean. Some dopey dope did the same to the left rear door of my car too. Luckily once I had wiped off the 1 ft long mark there was no dent and only two minute specks of missing paint on my brand new desi-mobile.

I know who did it, some dopey Chinese driver (he even has the paint of my car on his bumper), but still that's not enough proof. He's so dopey he dosn't even know what he did.

Some people are so clueless these days. Especialy in America... did the Russians drop a Dopey-Driver bomb on the US or something?

Dopes.

yeah the driving standards here are so lax. seems like people are pulling their drivers licenses out of cornflakes boxes or something.

I would not want some of these people walking around me let alone be behind the wheel of some 1/2 ton truck.

Solution: Get a used car, where the dings don't mess up your heartbeat and don't get your blood pressure (and your insurance) soaring. Preferably, get one which has plenty of dings already as you will get it cheaper and then you will not notice additional dings.

Can't fight 'em, join 'em!

I have a better idea.

When I settle down I'm going to buy the biggest mega-monster-Ford-Galaxy-SUV that I can get my hands on. Then I'm going to spend the rest of my life parking 2 cm away from dopey Chinese drivers and dizty blondes and blind-as-a-bat blue-haired grandma's before violently kicking open all four doors with both feet.

Once I have put in enough dings, scratches and dents to make their car look like it's been mugged, I'll feel justice has been served and move onto my next victim.

While I'm at it, what's with these dopey middle-aged bald men and deaf-and-blind grand mother's hogging the middle lane of the interstate at 50 mph? What's that all about? Don't the realise how much congestion they make? You would have thought that the sight of people overtaking you ON BOTH SIDES at least 30 MPH FASTER would make these dopey gits realise they are in the wrong lane but OH NO... this is AMERICA, land of the FREE, THICK AND STUPID.

Sometimes I think there's a case for forced euthanasia. Either that or I'm going to bolt on a couple of anti-tank rockets to the hood of my car and start blasting stupid people off the road. Let's face it, I'll be doing Darwin a favour by cleansing the gene pool of bad-driver genes.

Pilot this whole deal is a ne wthread in itself. oh yeaah if we can juststop some of these clowns from driving.

here i a true amusing story. one old guy drove his huge car thru some gates, like actually ran over the fence...and was driving around these streets and was lost even though it seemed like there wa s alot of street light...so he drove around for a bit.. until o'hare airport security dtopped him for driving around on the runways...

I kid you not. Now people like this guy should not be allowed to sit in a car let alone drive one.

Peacemaker,

Why should we have to suffer with banged-up and scratched up vehicles just cuz some idiot doesn't care about his/her car?

Why should we have to compromise our lifestyle? Why not go after these bozos and get 'em where it stings....in the wallet?

cough, cough, cough, cough

ahhhhhh…no comments.

Muzna...

:)

If you can catch 'em.... yeah go for it. Hit and run, doesn't usually have a suspect.

And no, my car ain't banged up and stiched up. Its just in that early school-going age, where small dings here and there don't give me a blood pressure. Ask Fraudz.... :)

I understand Peacemaker....there are times when one should just let things ride. But I know what it's like to work hard for something, finally reward myself by getting it and then having someone disrespect me by damaging it.

If it was something small that could be repaired or replaced for a minor cost, I would probably lend a blind eye and avoid the rise in blood pressure....but for something like a paint job or body work.....uff.....that's just too much.

I would be upset if someone even damaged my junker. I mean if someone's cars has dings or dents, does it make it allright to make more dents in it?

I take care of my property, whatever condition it is in. Heck back in college when I had a 240sx, i used to get upset at ******* hooligans who egged cars on halloween.

I was lucky when that happened to my car. Someone parked their car on a slope & did not put hand breaks. Their car rolled into my car & the bumper was damaged. They actually took time to write it on a piece of paper with their contact info & left it for me.

So I still think the world has plenty good souls floating around

Well, I'd be more upset because of the incalculable loss in the resale value. :)

No one condones such behavior. But unless you can find a way to catch mysterious hit-and-run perpetrators, u'd better be ready that when your car is on the road anything can happen, and probably in some cases you won't know who did the damage.

It reminds me that for a very long time in the 90's ppl in Karachi didn't prefer to keep brand-new cars. They used to buy second hand bland cars, even if they can afford anything luxurious. Reason being the high frequency of car-snatching happening there in the hay days of MQM. It doesn't mean that if someone snatches your 86 Corolla it won't hit you financially or mentally, but it simply means that its better to lose an 86 Corolla rather than a 95 Civic, especially since you can not stop the lawlessness. Minimize the loss.

hey...
follow my lead.. DO NOT BUY A CAR..

no car.. no dents.. no hassle.. no money lost.. can't get a better deal.. now can you..

True

given the choice i would take public transport 80% of the time, but hafta be closer to downtown to take advantage of that.

Abhi say yeh haal hay to I cant imagine somebody egging Frauds car when he is 60....

Oh no i think at 60 I would not expect others to respect my property anymore and they could do what they want with it for their idiotic thrills
