Lack of Epidural

Re: Lack of Epidural

c-section is no fun and should be opted if necessary…just my 2 cents!

Re: Lack of Epidural

I don’t think avoiding pain is a reason for opting for c-sec. It should not be.

Re: Lack of Epidural

id never have Pak as an option for a baby, they just prefer to give you a c section, as it’s easier than spending 20 hours with you in labour trying other methods…a c section is major major surgery and really should be used in case of an emergency…women have been giving birth naturally for centuries without things like the epidural etc, our bodies are designed to give birth and trust me you do not die in pain…yes if you feel you need it there is nothing wrong in asking for it and the docs do not refuse you, but they will always use it as a last resort as there are many side effects linked to the epi , risk of high level tearing etc…and UK midwives are really good…dont believe all the horror stories…good luck!

Re: Lack of Epidural

exactly. you should never opt for a c-section voluntarily. that’s retarded. the whole “too posh to push” concept is stupid and perpetuated by rich women who are too lazy and vain to do what needs to be done. a c-section is major abdominal surgery. it has a long term recovery, no matter how soon after you are up and walking; the healing goes on for months and months. babies born via c-section also tend to have more health issues than babies born vaginally. there is a reason why our bodies deliver babies the way they do.

Re: Lack of Epidural

this is a good article on the pros and cons of epidurals. i like that she’s not leaning one way or the other, simply listing what’s what.

Re: Lack of Epidural

ok fine..ill look for reasons to be glad i dont have the option.

Re: Lack of Epidural

^ lol
or look for a different hospital? a natural birth isn’t a walk in the park either

Re: Lack of Epidural

^ :frowning: it isn’t but a natural birth is the way to go. And now I am double minded about it.

Re: Lack of Epidural

^ please dont think so negatively, iA Allah behtar hi kare ga.

most woman dont die during childbirth and certainly not because of the pain… believe me, you’ll be glad that you’re functional as soon as the baby pops out of you, iA  and no residual pain to deal with.

Re: Lack of Epidural

not to scare you or anything…because millions of women deliver babies vaginally/naturally with almost no medical care whatsoever…but if you have the option then I would prefer to be in a place where the epidural is available in the case of an emergency.

in my case there was nothing more they could do except to deliver by C-section…from what I remember of the situation, I was in such dire straits that I don’t know what I would have done if someone said to me that it could not be done at that moment in time.

Re: Lack of Epidural

^ they’d probably have put you under general anesthetic and knocked you out which would have been pretty horrid. you’d have had to wait until you came around a couple of hours later to see your baby :frowning:

demesne, i know three girls who’ve had natural births in the last couple of months, and one who is due in march and wants one as that is how she had her first baby too, and all of them recovered fine and their babies were healthy and it was all good. one even delivered on her living room floor since the midwife only got there at the last minute and there was no time for an epidural or a hospital! as you said, it can be done, but as muz said, i’d rather know its there in case i decide i want/need it.

Re: Lack of Epidural

It was almost 3 days before I could even get up to go see the twins in the NICU after my csection…:frowning:

Re: Lack of Epidural

same here khattichic :frowning:

I remember when I went to see Guriya in NICU I only had my mom with me to take me there and she couldn’t physically support me that much so a number of times I was on my own and on my feet so when I came back to my room my bp went down , everything became dark and I almost fainted.

God I don’t know how I survived those days.

Re: Lack of Epidural

This is wht happens in Pakistan they give you general anesthesia
