Labor Room

Ditto.

Husband wife relationship is THE MOST open relationship in the world. Besides pregnancy there are many diferent times & God forbid not just because a person gets sick but many many many times when a wife or husband sees their spouse poop or pee. Dude what’s the big deal. I would be more embarrassed if I dropped anything in front of my mom than my hubby.

Re: Labor Room

Obviously most women don't want to their husband exposed to anything of the sort; the point is that when you need him, it shouldn't matter that he IS exposed to it. Anyway, I'll keep hubby by my head. He can handle it.

hehe thanks, my ammi is even cute, have u ever raised ur voice with your mother .. I did that day, when my contractions started and I called my ammi during night to come over and stay at my place with my other daughter, so that husband and I can go to the hospital .. she came in 15 min. and by then I was ready but still debating to go or wait a bit, to wait till 6 am and leave my daugther in KG .. during that I got a real strong contraction and I am dealing with it by breathing and some ahhhhh and getting up and holding a chair .. at that moment my ammi goes to us … " u go go right now " and I scream in pain and anger… ammi let this finish first before I can go .. !! lol .. but she understood.

I told her that I dont want her to be there at the hospital I would rather she would take care of my daughter, what she does, takes her to KG and comes to the hospital … but just in time as the baby is out and crying its first sounds. She then comes in as I am covered in sheets and things have been cleared. At that time I was glad to have her, to see the happiness in her eyes, I think these moments mean a lot to the mothers of the new mothers. I think she thinks of this quite often, as I see her talking about me and my sister’s deliveries sometimes.

So in all, despite me screaming at her, I think I should have let my anger at my husband at that time, but he was clever enough not to say anything or to do anything to ennoy me at that time …

Re: Labor Room

well I don't think it's a matter of how much exposure you want in front of your husband at that time...does'nt make sense because he's obviously seen EVERYTHING that's why you're in that situation!! but some guys are generally just weak at heart and they're not able to take it...At the time of my cesarians, I refused him to be in the OT with me knowing that he'll probably not be able to take the pain that I'm going through...and if he'll be sick in there, you will be more worried about him then anything else...So I rather have him wait outside...But it's totally a personel choice...I'm completely in favour of those who had there partners in there with them...you need his support more than anything else!!

Re: Labor Room

Thank you so much for the feedback on this topic. It is safe to say that you should take your hubby dearest with you in to the labor room!

Re: Labor Room

Men are allowed in some hospitals in Pakistan like the Aga Khan during delivery.

Re: Labor Room

I had no idea about that!

Re: Labor Room

Yes, i was shocked to hear one lady tell me that NOBODY, not even her husband or mother was allowed in the labour room. Her husband was only allowed in after the show was over (and she was in labour for a LOOOOOOOOONG time).

Just so happened that his parents accompanied him into the room at the same time (didn't even give him time for private moments) and when he stroked his poor wife's face and asked her if she was ok, his dad got a bit mad and later told him off for shamelessly expressing such a public display of affection. Crazy ppl.

Re: Labor Room

My husband was with me all the time, he saw everything and no it didn't gross him out and it didn't sour our marriage or anything (people who say that are silly). I'm glad he was there, he was my biggest emotional and physical support.

If you haven't had a baby yet, you don't know how emotionally draining it is... forget the physical pain. I definitely need my husband in the labor room next time, no question about it.

:smack: :smack: :smack:

For my both times hubby was there and it was very comforting. Like all other people said I would always prefer alone if hubs is not there. But no mommy.

Re: Labor Room

That doesnt make any sense at all, there is nothing wrong with your husband being there. Afterall, its nothing he hasnt seen already! :smack:

Remember that not all books have authentic and correct information and opinions, even if they claim to be “Islamic books”. If it was a correct opinion, it would have come with authentic evidence to back it up

Re: Labor Room

For those of us who are squeamish ... I was all of that myself. I didnt want myhusband to see me screaming in pain and even more, I didnt want him to see anything gross-looking or smelling coming out of me. I felt really pretty strongly about this.

So we took things a little at a time. He was beyond amazing with howhe got me through the contractions, rubbed exactly the right spot on my back to make it a bit better. Gave me the encouragement I needed. And for the very vast majority of the time, the hubby is kept at the head of the bed where there is nothing gross to see. Most delivery-room nurses are expertly trained and keep things down south very nicely and if there happens to be a mess, its gone usually before anyone but the nurse knows it was ever there.
Hubby may be invited to themore southerly region to witness the emergence of his child. By that time, all that can be seen is the child.

For my hubs it was the very best gift I could ever have given him to witness the emergence of his child into the world. As much as I was against it initially, after witnessing his reaction to the whole process, I am so very happy that we went thru it together.

Re: Labor Room

i agree with MIAinva and UZ.. Yourt hubby has seen evrything as it is, and at that time
(in labour) whether its your ammi or your hubby your sharam goes out the window, and all your bothered about is that the baby gets out NOW!!!

My hubby was with me at both times and he was brilliant and held my hand through out, he didnt even leave the del room not for 1 sec, our marriage and love has become even more stronger, mashaallah :)

Re: Labor Room

ok i am no where even near being a married girl..... but just thinking about it.... I think it would be a hard task for me to tell my mom i am expecting..... being her in labor room with me is durrrrr ki baat!!!......I am very close to my mom... but there are certain things u just want to share with hubby more then mummy!!! :D

Re: Labor Room

Am I the only besharam here who would prefer her mom than her hubby? Not because I think hubby would be grossed out or anything like that but just because I like my mom's comforting better than anyone else.. when I am sick, I want my mom closer to me so I am assuming thats how I will be at that time too!

Re: Labor Room

^^ whatever makes you feel comfortable I think...:)
I had to see what you had to say in this thread...:D

Re: Labor Room

hahaha even I have no idea why I entered into this thread.. I tell ya I am enjoying my 4 day weekend :D

wow ! you have a great bond with your mom!

For me - when my mom meets we never even think about “the birthing” phase - we all pretend kids were just “added” to our family some how? :hehe:

Re: Labor Room

NJmasti.. ok I dun have kids, never been to teh labor room or anything like that but as everyone else is pointing out, husband stays near the head holding hands and all that jazz shamaz, why can't a mom do the same?!!?! It's not like you are exposing yourself to her!

Personally I will be more comfortable with my mom but I am sure I will end up with the husband :D

and yes I share a great bond with my mom.. Alhamdulillah.
