Labor Room

Should men be present at the birth of their child? What difference does it make if they are there or not?

Re: Labor Room

yes. def. makes huge huge diff. if it wasn't for my hubby in that torture room i didn't know wat i had done ;) i cannot feel at ease taking someone else besides him n having suppot at that time is very imp. ofcourse doc n nurses no matter how nice cannot provide that kind.

Re: Labor Room

1- Why not?

2- It is special moment for both.

3- It makes him humble...........and makes him say " look what I did to her"

4- Both get to see the face of baby right from the birth. So baby cannot be mixed up! :-)

5- It makes her see the real emotional side of him.

6- He may be able to say: "Thanks god men don't have to go through this.

7- They need extra help so mother not fall off the bed!....

8- He finds an excuse to take off the work.

9- Baby not only gets bonding with mother but father too.

But besides holding the baby, he can't to much at all.......

10- She gets the chance to nag him till next pregnancy. "But you were there weren't you? "You want me to go through that again?"

...............Off course she will! ;-)

Re: Labor Room

dont c why not.

Re: Labor Room

Do they allow the husband in the labor room in Pakistan? Parents and relatives who had babies back home say no, but their info is at least 25-29 years old.

Yes they should be present.

Apart from giving the support only a husband can provide during delivery they can also feel more close to the baby & the whole birthing experience. I don't see why they should be left out of witnessing such a miracle. In my views, husbands should even accompany the mommy to be on all pre natal visits. It gives them the idea of what us women go through & also sometimes makes them more comfortable rather than worrying about what's going on with their wives.

I have heard in Pakistan they don't let anyone stay in the delivery room. Not even mothers & in U.A.E they only let mothers join in. No way a husband can be there. MEAN.

Not men, just one man, your hubby ...

Re: Labor Room

Ufff TLK don’t u see birthing chanel. whole family is around plus the tv channel. i just don’t get it how these moms do it infront of their other kids :smack:

Yes i think they should be there

:omg:

Re: Labor Room

When my MIL had hubby, FIL was in the room with her. Hubby's dada was so upset and disgusted at the thought! He kept telling his son he had no business there and that it would ruin his marriage.

I'll need hubby there. He's a calming influence.

I used to think having kids is always a mutul decision of husband and wife.

Re: Labor Room

Both my mom and hubs were there but ammi couldnt handle seeing me in pain so she left the room. During the actual delivery, she was shy to be around hubs so she didnt come in until right after the birth. And if it wasnt for my husband, i dont know how i could have gotten through it all. I am sure he also appreciates me even m ore now :D

Wouldn’t it be a little awkward having your hubby AND mother there?!

husband should be in the room beside wife for two basic reasons

  • this gives lot of support to wife and its a special moment for both

  • husband gets some idea about what a women goes through during delivery and if he has a brain to think and heart to consider, he will appreciate “munney kee amma” all life long.

very awkard..

either mom or hubby

You are only (partially) unclothed for the actual delivery part. And to be honest, by that time, i didnt care who was there or wasnt. BUT my mom still left the room since she felt awkward. And i dont think she could handle seeing me screaming and all, lol.

Re: Labor Room

Ladies have been delivering babies without their husbands in the labor room for ages...so there really is no need as such.

However, having your husband around is the greatest support. The greatest.

Re: Labor Room

when my younger bro was on the way, my dad dropped my mom off at the hospital and went home with us two older kids! i'm sure dad was thinking it would be easier on us elder two to be at home, but still, to leave poor mum alone to have a baby! its heartbreaking! :/

i'd never forgive my husband if he even thought of something like that. he would absolutely 100% have to be in the room- him and him alone. no mom! i don't think she could handle me going through that. but she'd have to be right outside so she could baby me after i've had my baby haha :p
