labeling mosques....

why r mosques in pakistan labelled as “devbandi maslik” or other such terms???
and then ppl from the different “maslik” dont pray there saying that “in ke peecchay hamari namaz nahin hoti”…

after someone tried to warn me of praying in a mosque of some other maslik cuz my prayers wud be wasted by praying so, i told him that Allah has made the whole earth a mosque for me and my prayers r accepted wherever i pray and whosoever i pray behind…
and that it is impossible for me to get a detailed biography of each and every person that wud be the ‘imam’ during the prayers…
and even if i do i can never really know whats in his heart (like that imam whi turned out to be a hindu, RA agent, leading prayers in a pakistani moque for years)…

anyway, main point r we really allowed to label mosques like this???
and where r the ulema and why cant they get these removed???

well first of all, we need to see whether there is provision for sects in Islam or not....only then we can talk abt labeling mosques for different 'masliks'.....

there is no concept of sects in ISLAM... Islam believes in fostering unity amongst its followers.
And hold fast, All together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves;
Al-Qur’an 3:103
and Qur'an clearly says that u follow Allah's order and follow the path laid out by the holy prophet (saw)....
Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger
Al-Qur’an 4:59
i never saw any provision of following other saints/maulanas....and btw, the true saints or maulanas will follow only Allah and prophet so when we say we follow saints, we only follow Allah's word and prophet's actions...

Qur'an clearly says that it is "prohibited" to make sects and divisions
As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least: Their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did.
Al-Qur’an 6:159
and it is better to be called a MUSLIM than by their sect as Qur'an says clearly:
Who is better in speech than one who calls to Allah, works righteousness,
and says, ‘I am of those who bow in Islam?’
Al-Qur’an 41:33
The Prophet (pbuh) dictated letters to non-Muslim kings and rulers inviting them to accept Islam. In these letters he mentioned the verse of the Qur’an:
Say ye: "Bear witness that we are Muslims (bowing to Allah’s Will).
Al-Qur’an 3:64
as for the scholars/saints/maulanas, we must respect them, including the four Imaams.....one shud have no objection if someone agrees with the views and research of Imam Abu Hanifa or Imam Shafi, etc. But when posed a question, ‘who are you?’, the reply should only be ‘I am a Muslim’.

so if sects are not allowed, then naming mosques (to represent sects) is not allowed as well.....

some by quoting the hadith of our prophet (pbuh) in which he has said, "My community will be split up into seventy-three sects."

this hadith reports that the prophet predicted the emergence of seventy-three sects......he did not say that Muslims should be divide themselves into sects.....

according to Tirmidhi Hadith, the prophet (pbuh) is reported to have said, "My Ummah will be fragmented into seventy-three sects, and all of them will be in Hell fire except one sect." The companions asked Allah’s messenger which group that would be. Where upon he replied, "It is the one to which I and my companions belong."

Re: labeling mosques…

I thought they were busy dividing… no? :konfused:

this labelling of mosques is common in pakistan and is really pathetic...

most of the youth are divided into their little groups and have their own masjids and jalsay jaloos and gatherings...and they dont like to mix with other groups...

i reckon that all this is because of unemployment and lack of facilities like sports complexes, parks and other such places where youth can go for recreation and spend their energy constructively...they turn to the things they have available to spend their time...and mazhabi firqaywaariat is one of the things that they can always get involved in...gives them a crowd to hang out with and an activity to be involved in...not to mention they think that its smething 'islamic' so its good...

i think if the employment ratio of our country increases and we build more parks where these youth can go and play cricket in the evenings, or more gyms where they can go and exercise, it'll bring down much of this stuff...

its totally sad to see the youth getting divided instead of united...

While I understand where you are coming from, this blanket statement is probably not the best one. There should be some minimum criteria for behind whom you are gonna pray, and the first thing is that the person should be a muslim. Then again, its obvious, but just clarifying, before someone else runs away with it.

i am sorry for this....
but i do keep a certain level of audience intelligence in mind when i post here....

and irem beta, i dont think there is lack of recreation in pakistan....
it is a very gifted country and one can really enjoy himself with the nature....
u shud visit a desert island like bahrain to know what i am talking of :p

i think its all in the educational layout that our country has....
the students r either let go without any religional education or they r fed up with so much they fall to extremes....
they shud be taught in a way to be able to analyze the religion and the statements made by tha "molvis"....
