He is more popular as a saint. Though, Sehwan Sharif had many saints even before Qalandar Shahbaz, but he became the identity of the region as a saint. Though, Qalandar Shahbaz’s own poetry is not popular among masses, but almost all the poets have written about him and he is the most mentioned saint in folk songs of Sindh.
