Chhori / Chhora = Yateem / Anaat in Sindhi

We say girl ‘chhokri’ in Sindhi, but its considered something odd in other cultures. In our childhood, we went to Quetta and visited a Baloch friend of our uncle. In there house, there was a girl and we cousins were speaking in Sindhi. Someone from us looked towards the girl and said 'Hee chhokri keir aahe - who is this girl? The girl started crying like anything and complaint to her mother that we called her ‘chhokri’. The situation was very tough and our uncle had to explain her what chhokri is, but the girl only stopped when said ‘sorry’ to her

Boy and Girl , Kuri and Kura.

What else do you use in place of them?

Among all the places i have lived , below is the list i have heard people using for Boy and girl.

Kuri and Kura Ladka and Ladki Turra and Turri Chokra and Chokri Laadi and Laada Bai and Babu Doki and Doka Laundi and Launda

my daadi used to refer to kids as chhora chhori and it was considered fine in old people's standard

When I was learning Spanish I always and still make this mistake

Ok so in Spanish señora means older lady and señorita means young girl,I used to call my old neighbor senorita , the first time I called her excuse me señorita, she looked left n right and asked who I’m talking to? I said you. Then she laughed. Lol
