kundan or gold

kundan set or gold set which one is more expensive? or the prices r same?

Re: kundan or gold

kundan is glass set in gold. prices depend upon the weight of actual gold in the jewellery set. --that is minus the glass.
market value of kundan is zero.. as it has glass. so, if you like that look of jewellery, like most people do these days, buy polki jewellery
polki= uncut diamond set in gold. but again polki is veryy expensive. And worth the money for that royal look! polki is matchless!

Re: kundan or gold

thnkx 4 replying bc now a days many brides r wearing kundan sets thts y just wondering

Re: kundan or gold

so kundan is the least expensive? Is polki more expensive than gold??

Re: kundan or gold

polki is way more expensive as it has uncut diamonds. I saw a set for Rs. 1265000.

Anybody know where you can get it made gold plated

Re: kundan or gold

Kundan is a type of setting. It can be in gold, silver, etc. I've seen lots of gold kundan sets.

Re: kundan or gold

Polki looks royal.. kundan has similar looks..not as royal though. that’s the reason many brides want those sets. i suggest you should go to the jeweller’s & try on a few sets to get to know what you like & what jewellery suits you. All the best! :k:

Re: kundan or gold

Real jewellery is set in gold only. the difference is if its Kundan-- it is glass set in gold, whereas Polki--- is uncut diamond set in gold. Polki is expensive-- Kundan is affordable. But kundan has NO value at all. POlki does.
Price range can very depending upon how heavy your set is.. & the size of the polki-- the heavier the set & bigger the polki--the more steep the prices get. :)

Re: kundan or gold

that is a very reasonable price for a good polki set. it starts from there. but do make sure it is good quality polki

How can kundan have no value if it's gold? I'm confused :(

Re: kundan or gold

Im confuzzled too ^^

Re: kundan or gold

I think they mean the glass part that identifies it as kundan.

Re: kundan or gold

Generally speaking, value of a gold set is determined by how much you'll get for it when you sell it, not how much you paid for it. So the reason kundan will have less value is because although you'll pay almost as much as you would for a polki set when you buy it (since they are both set using the same techniques, hence the same labour costs). When you went to sell it, you wouldn't get anything back for the kundan setting, since it's all glass. The polki gems on the other hand, might get you a little bit of money.

Re: kundan or gold

get what you love...are you or your heirs really going to be selling your bridal jewelry? i would hope not! i know it's not necessarily practical to keep these things, but they just have so much sentimental value!

Re: kundan or gold

Its a good idea to get kundan if you have lesser money to spend. It gives a more heavy look which is required for dresses. As compared to a gold set in the same "spread"

Gold is 50K a tola now. A reasonable ring would be 1 tola itself IMO. Imagine how much a set would be
