wouldn't that make pakistanis half middle eastern? When I think of the word European I think of more German, English, Scottish etc....more along those lines. Iranians came to the indian subcontinent hundreds of years ago right?

Pakistanis came from Central Asia, the area around the Caucaus mountains
As they settled in what is now Pakistan, they also cross-breeded with the local Dravidian population (ethnic Indians), and to produce Indo-Aryan ethnicity...
As for German, Scottish, etc....
They are same ethnic group but with cross-breeding with the local Indian population made some parts of the Pakistani population darker than their European cousins...
For example, if you look at Rajistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh, their the Indian population cross-breeded with the Africans sailing from Tanzania and Eastern Africa...
As for Middle Eastern, they are mixed half white and half black...
North African Arabs and Gulf Arabs are half white and half black, but the Near Eastern Arabs or Arabs from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon are 3/4 white and 1/4 black, so they have very Mediterranean European features due to the massive conquest of those areas by European empires such as Alexander, Carthage, Rome, Byzantine, Crusader kingdoms....

In summary...
Pakistanis are a multi-ethnic society but their main ethnicity comes from Central Asia the birth place of the Caucausian people as they settled in Pakistan, they also cross-breeded with the local Indian population to produce an Indo-Aryan ethnicity.
The Caucausians that settled in Europe did not inter-breed as there were no humans.
The Arabs are mostly half caucausian and half black and they are mostly from the Gulf Arab States and North Africa. The Near East Arab states of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the Arabs there are more fair and have European features since due to their conquests by European Empires have more European blood in their populations...

Pakistanis arent Europeans
but they are descendant from the same ehtnic group which now populates Europe
There are 3 Races in the World
1 - Caucausian: Which came from the Caucaus mountains in Southern Russia and then spread into two areas, Europe and Central and Southern Asia
2 - Negroid - Who populate the Sub-Saharan African continent
3 - Mongoloid - People who populate Asia and the natives in the North and Southern American continents
Pakistanis are from Caucausian group but as they settled in Pakistan they inter-married with the Indian population which was descendant from the Mongloid population, producing a Euro-Asian ethnic group or Indo-Aryan ethnic group.
But as you go to North pakistan, there was less inter marriage between the two groups and people of North Pakistan are predominately of Caucausian stock but the more south you go, the high-rate of inter-marriages, people look more mixed.

^so it's not just Pakistanis that are indo aryan, the indians are also indo aryan except maybe some in the deep deep southern regions of India which are still a bit Dravidian in their features and skin color.
On the whole I've noticed that Indians and Pakistanis look the same. In the area that I grew up we had quite a mix of Indians and Pakistanis and many times it was difficult(just by looking at their faces) which ones were Pakistanis.
Quite a few of the Pakistanis were darker in their complexion and some were fairer.

every day, every friggin day we have this argument about origins of pakistanis and how their color is more like afghans and less like Indians. Do we really have to turn everything into this mindnumbing crap?

Actually, the Indo-Aryan population of the world is around 350 million or so...
Since Pakistan has around 160 million population, that means there are only about 200 million Indo-Aryans living in India.
and they are mostly Indian Muslims

the only thing she has going for her is that she has fair skin and colored eyes
and in socities like ours, having fair skin is the most sought after thing when a mother is looking for a bride for her son...
