It seems to be a great move, KPK govt have target to plant One Billion trees in next 3/4 years, Planting tree is highly regarded in Islam and is considered to be a Sadqa-e-Jariya, I request all Pakistanies living in and out of Pakistan to take part in tree plantation, it is important that we leave a green Pakistan for our coming generation.
This movement has been launched by IK or KPK govt, but it have long lasting and good impact on our environment and economy, let us keep the political differences aside and let us take part in achieving this target.
It needs to be carried out in other provinces too, just plant few trees in front of your house if you live in a house or common area if in an apartment or help other plant trees :k:
I only hope that they plant domestic species, not some imported foreign pretty ones, which play havoc with the local flora and fauna.
Hopefully, it wakes up qaim ali shah into action in protecting the salt marshes in sindh which are key in protecting sindh from salt water erosion. I don't think that sindh has ever planted native trees in that area and people cut the wood for fire and money. It will ultimately destroy sindh.

Good initiative. Growing up, my village was surrounded by trees all around and you couldn't see farther than a few acres before the sight being blocked by trees. Now it's all barren and you can see for kilometers.
The reason was that first there was some kind of disease that destroyed all the guava orchards that almost all farmers had. Then there was some disease that targeted Taali which, combined with furniture requirements, took care of the taali. There has been no awareness campaign to plant trees for decades. All provinces should take part in this initiative.
Around 30 to 35 trees for every man woman and child in KP? It seems like a attention grabbing headline but with little chance of it being achieved. To achieve this figure around 800,000 trees need to be planted every single day for the next 3 to 4 years.
This is a twice a year routine whole Pakistan even in KPK , IK started it more than a month ago and 2 trees officially only yet .

This billion-tree tsunami will also counter effects of global warming in Pak. In DIK region temp has gone up by 1° C & rainfall down by 5".
Since there is no visible evidence, i dont know how many trees have been planted in KPK...
In Punjab however, target for 2015 was to plant 9 million trees by December 31st. Some 8 million trees have been planted and one can see them...
1) all the road sides
2) a total area of 2,500 all over punjab is reserved and
3) out of it, 1000 acre is between Sheikhupura and Lahore, and this area is half planted and shall be completed by end of 2016..
Looking at govt initiatives, people are also planting trees, and some 8000 ( rough estimate of PHA) trees have planted around canal bank, grave yards and other locations by civil society...
I hope this continues...the biggest threat however is DHA...who is conquering areas best for tree plantation and turning them into housing societies near indo-pak border
