Knowing where you are wrong

Do you have people you know in life that give u a honest opinion? and how well do u take the criticism.

well i have a few. i dont take criticisms so well but i save it for later to think over but at times constant reminder of how wrong i am makes me care less of what one has to say.

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

The only person I listen to is my husband because I know he genuinely looks out for me and gives me unbiased advice. In some aspects my parents are pretty good with advice as well…but after marriage, they refrain from getting too involved in my issues.

I usually don’t care much for advice from people who haven’t been through the particular issue I’m going through and have achieved the results I’m looking for. So for example, I would definitely ask Khawateen and Sajalina for advice on how to shed weight as they’ve achieved great results in that area, or Muniya on how to handle worklife and 2 busy toddlers, or rolla how to perform umrah, or Khumzie on how to dissect someone’s spleen…see what I’m saying?

And no, people don’t always give “honest” opinions but opinions that are honest in their opinion. So I keep a supermaket approach. How well I take criticism…well honestly, not too well, though I think I can be pretty graceful about it, inside me I’ll be ready to blow!

And I think I usually do realize when I’m wrong but I don’t always like to hear about it :nahi:.

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

I think most of the people will give an honest opinion, how well it matches with your own desire is another story........................

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

No one likes criticism but some people are wise enough to learn from that. And of course, all of us do have some people in our circles who are always available for a honest opinion.

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

My begum is brutally honest. So my shortcomings are taken care of before 3rd person knowing :)

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

you told us an untold story and a well kept secret

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

I very much welcome the criticism if its coming from the people I think understand me.

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

I can always trust my sisters to be honest with me, and that includes them being able to give critiscm. Because its coming from people i love, i always take it on board and think it over.

Re: Knowing where you are wrong

A good friend of mine is almost always fishing for our honest oppinion and criticism because she is one of those "likes to reflect" type. As soon as we tell her she talks to much, a week later she'll come back and we'll notice she isn't talking much and after asking her what's wrong atleast 10 times, she'll be like "well I've decided I'm not going to talk more then needed"
LOL it's so funny because now welove telling her stuff for her to "reflect" on You don't share*you're so greedy and then we wait for results
